Nets active in talking trade

According to team officials and NBA general managers -- all of whom require anonymity because they cannot reveal Thorn's intentions -- the most promising discussions the Nets have had are with teams that were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Among them: They have made some cursory inquiries with Phoenix (about Boris Diaw and Leandro Barboso), more substantive discussions with Toronto (about Andrea Bargnani), and there has been some dialogue with Denver about Carmelo Anthony.

Thorne is a great GM- He'll likely get something done
However giving Vince a long term deal was a bad move.....
and that might be a major anchor weighing this franchise down

Say no to Boris Diaw. He's a product of the system.

Who cares about the Nets or the Spurs?

I pray to God that there won't be another Spurs-Pistons Finals. It will probably go 7 games like the last one, and like the 2005 Series it would be like watching paint dry.

Hey J Hova
When your team actually does something, like Win then I will acknowledge your opinions of the Champs, until then leave the Champs out of your comments

May 20, 2008  12:18 PM ET

bad spurs:-( didn't they get the memo, home teams win this year!!!

May 20, 2008  12:29 PM ET

Wasn't that what they said about the Hornets (R.I.P) and the Champs series.

Um Lakerfandan
How did that work out for ya?

I hope you are having a Spurrific Tuesday

Check the profile: I'm a Lakers fan. A long time Lakers fan at that.

Basketball purists unite, apparently. LETS GO LAKERS. LETS GO CELTICS.

Come on people aren't you a little bit tired of Spurs/Pistons yet? As fun as it would be to go back in time and watch basketball before the three pointer was invented, I'd rather relive the golden age of hoops. Bird versus Magic? How about Kobe versus KG?

As much as I'd love to hear Stuart Scott proclaim "TIMMAY" ten million more times in addition to "SHEEEEEEED," you gotta want Celtics/Lakers. The MVP versus the D-MVP. Hollywood versus Beantown just like the old days.

Give me a new dynasty!

May 20, 2008  12:40 PM ET

Texasmade: I'm not really looking for any sort of beef with you, but I do hope that if the Spurs do lose to the Lakers that you stay here and take your lumps like a man. I have seen plenty of people like you on this site who spout their stuff and then run when they lose.

Oh and don't worry about me. I'll be here win or lose.

May 20, 2008  12:53 PM ET

Excuse me y'all, but if I might get back to the story at hand, I must say I'm surprised to see Bargnani's name mentioned. I'm surprised that anyone would be interested in him after a dis-spirited and unimpressive season. I'm surprised that Colangelo would give up on him just two years after making him the team's number one pick.

I wont go anywhere

Ladies and Gentlemen Welcome to the Staple Center where the fans don't take their seat until the Lakers make their first basket...of the second half. Please don't confuse them with Hornet fans, the Laker fans don't show up until the 3rd quarter. LA home of fair weather and fairweather fans.

Plenty of ass Whoopin headin your way...zippidy doo da zippity ah!

May 20, 2008  02:34 PM ET

Glad to hear that Texasmade. Lets just hope we get a good Conference Finals.

"Basketball purists unite, apparently. LETS GO LAKERS. LETS GO CELTICS. "

Aren't the purists already rooting happy, four teams left that all play a team game. Albeit Spurs and Pistons been together longer and do a better job of it, the other two aren't that far behind at times, but with a bit more individual talent.

Anyways, I loved the 2004 and 2005 finals, it's great ball if you've got the attention span and understanding.

May 20, 2008  02:55 PM ET

J. hova
I definitely agree with you there

These Spurs fans must have ADD. They can't stay on the current topic and start rambling on and on. Take some Ritalin boys and chill.

The Nets have a couple of good pieces. I don''t think Melo or Andrea Bargnani are the answers. Instead of Jefferson, they need to move VC.
