Padres consider wholesale changes

Posted: Wednesday May 21, 2008 07:41AM ET

The Padres have the worst record in the major leagues. They're 13 games out of first place in the National League West. Jake Peavy, the ace, just went on the disabled list. You can almost smell the fire sale coming. Kevin Towers, the general manager, fired a warning shot after Monday's 8-2 loss to the Cardinals. "I'm certainly not going to watch this for another four months," he told reporters. The Padres already cut Jim Edmonds. They could dangle Randy Wolf to the Brewers, Astros, Marlins, maybe even to his original team, the Phillies. They could trade Greg Maddux too, and it would be sweet if they would send him back to the Braves.

well lets see the yard sale. Maybe the yanks can dust off one of their old pitchers and stick him in the line up. Lord knows they need help.

Whats up JFKjr?, love the avatar of course. You looook Marvelous.

can someone educate me on Randy Wolf....is he any good..sorry for the early morning stupidity...

Report Offensive Comment

if the yanks could, in any way, pull off a trade for Peavy, they should do it. He's worth a couple old vets and some prospects.

Wolf is okay, but he's been hurt a lot..

TenRingsSTL - Morning...When you say hurt--Picthing arm, groin, knees(?) Any idea how old he is...I am feeling a little lazy this morning..

Report Offensive Comment

Wonder if this will be like the San Diego Swap Meet of the early 90s.....

Report Offensive Comment

Morning AstrosFan..... He had Tommy John surgery a couple of years back, but I think he had something else last year, like maybe his shoulder. I would guess that he is early 30's.......maybe 32 or 33

Report Offensive Comment

TenRingsSTL - Sounds like another Woody Williams issue..I hope he goes elsewhere...

Report Offensive Comment

Probably just bad team chemistry....not sure if I would fire sale it if I were GM. You just hope and pray that Peavy's deal is a minor setback and some of the vets start hitting as usual. Their pitching isn't very good though.

If by wholesale changes you mean folding up shop and moving to Tijuana? Then magic 8 ball yes **** YES!!!!!!!

by the way...MY magic 8 ball tends to get a little salty

Tijuana....an excellent idea.

Lawn and leaf blower night at the ballpark.

After the game, a performance by the Mexican rodeo.

Everyone goes home with a mule.

I hear there's a good donkeys and chicks website ......no need to go to Tijuana for that **** anymore....

Report Offensive Comment

Well Effin, I was gonna work up to that.

But that's a touchy subject and a horribly disgusting event.

For the donkey I mean.

How about moving those fences in about 100 feet? Maybe then their offense wouldn't be so terrible. That was the worst design error ever made, putting that park in San Diego. Kevin Towers should consider hiring the mob to take out the architects, contractors, sub-contractors, and Padres ownership partners for that mistake. There's no way a team should be that bad with the pitching staff that they have. The players can't help that they play in the Polo Grounds of the West Coast.
