Word is that teams like the Nets, Bulls, Mavericks and Raptors are all looking at the possibility of shaking things up substantially this offseason. All of these teams, along with a number of others, would likely take a look at Allen Iverson should he be made available by the Nuggets.

the bulls have a pile of idiots they can trade , just dont be dumb and trade the #1 pic

May 22, 2008  05:18 AM ET

don't trade iverson, just move to the eastern conference. with their record this past year they would be considered contenders. if they do chose to move him try to get a better character guy. at least some one who will practice....we're talking about practice.

why would the bnulls want him?? oh my god can't they make decent rumors any more link the BULLS with a PF for god's sake, i'd even accept a link with shaq but AI"?? the bulls are gurad heavy and the nuggets would want players the bulls would not want to give up

AI to The Knicks, perfect fit!

May 22, 2008  07:18 AM ET

In my original post regarding Nuggets trades, I had mentioned that Denver should trade Iverson before Melo.
Now, we finally have a rumor regarding the trade of AI.
When Iverson first joined Denver, I also mentioned that he seems out of place in Nuggets teal (blue-green color) and would probably not spend the rest of his career there.
Let's see what happens. Even if he doesn't get traded this year, he probably will in the future.

Denver, if it has any sense, will trade both AI and Melo. Neither one plays D. Keep Camby, and bring in some well-rounded players.

May 22, 2008  08:28 AM ET

AI in Dallas would be THE SHIZNIT! Shame, I hate G. Karl so much I don't want him coaching AI. Also this article doesn't mention that AI can opt out and right his own ticket.

May 22, 2008  08:28 AM ET

...write his own ticket I mean.

Honest Abraham

Sorry Abe, AI and Melo sell the tickets not Camby.

Send him to dallas. From steve nash to iverson. Cuban sure did not make his billions making deals like he has been doing in the nba. This team is going from contendind to the cellar.

Sorry folks, adding A.I. to any team doesn't equal much other than a ton of shots, some points and no championship. I'll say it again, Allen is a great individual talent that won't win you squat. It's not that the little guy doesn't care, he plays harder than about 99% of the league, it's just that he thinks HE can win the game for you instead of the system or his teammates. Fact is, outside of high school (where everybody wins titles) where has Iverson won anything? He was clearly the best player in College while at Georgetown, did his team even make the Final Four? He leaves Philly for Denver where he was supposedly going to team with Melo and do big things and what happened? One playoff win in 2 season. The Sixers have more playoff wins than the Nuggets since A.I. left and the players left behind in Philly somehow have gotten better since A.I. left. No one disputes Iverson's will and effort, it's just misplaced because he will never buy into a team format. 6-1 SG's who hog the ball, shoot bad shots and don't play defense aren't exactly the catalysts for championship ballclubs. Sorry A.I. fans, your guy is a great one on one player, but a champion he will never be.

Moe - unfortunately the Nuggs had the Lakers in the first round this year.....not so sure you can blame AI for that departure (at least not entirely)

May 22, 2008  08:55 AM ET

LA Fans, you have to feel good about that win last night. I thought your team looked great letting our "old" team go up by 20 points. I thought the way you booed your own team showed lots of class. Yes the Spurs let one slip away, but abusing the home team on their own floor I am pretty sure that the Spurs feel like they own you. Hey LA should have won that game, well rested against a team with little time to recover. Imagine what will happen when the Spurs have time to prepare.

I'm sorry, I still cannot understand booing your own team. that was pure class LA pure class

May 22, 2008  08:55 AM ET

If the Nuggets can find a team dumb enough to take Iverson and his huge contract, they should trade him. I love Iverson. He plays hard. But he is older than his actual age. There are alot of miles on him

Surely A.I. is not the total blame for what happened in the playoffs, he is part of the blame. I could point out 5 other things that caused the Nuggets to lose but Iverson is also part of the equation, but no more than Melo, Camby, lack of defense etc..

jpd

I didn't know you were the judge of how fans should react. I'm no Laker fan but the crowd had every right to boo when a team that's supposed the #1 seed is getting hammered by 20 at home. What's classless about showing your displeasure in your teams performance? LA fans are no different than any other fan base. How about they sit on their collective arses like Spurs fans and only cheer when told to?

Your post is stupid, fans pay to cheer, boo or do nothing. You root for your team your way and don't worry about how others do it.

May 22, 2008  09:06 AM ET

OK here comes the parade of AI haters. He was only 3th leading scorer in the league and leading scorer on 50 win team. You don't deserve to have AI on your squad idiots. Basketball is a team sport and Denver would've competed if they could've gotten consistent play from their role players. Camby was garbage. Martin was inconsistent. Klieza no. Why wasn't J.R. starting instead of Anthony Carter? Blame coach for poor rotation and poor defensive scheme ( funny because there was no defensive scheme). AI's defense wasn't a problem when he carried Philly to the Finals. There was no coaching in Denver you can't blame players when there is no accountability on defense, otherwise why even have a head coach?

May 22, 2008  09:07 AM ET

Toronto would be a good fit. He needs to go to a team that is a little more established would defense. He could add that nudge to toronto to push them closer to the prize. Being back in the East would help too.

...should he be made available by the Nuggets. This is simply Hoopsworld trying to create something out of nothing. Why would the Nuggets trade both Melo and Iverson?

May 22, 2008  09:20 AM ET

Class maybe, but it goes to show that the Spurs winning a back to back crown is like saying that Isiah Thomas is a great coach.
They can win the ring for a million times but never will they defend it.
Sorry Spurs fans at least you have won the championship more than once already.
