A would-be sports marketing agent who reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with Reggie Bush will be one of the first people to be deposed in a civil lawsuit involving the former USC running back, the attorney for the man suing Bush said Wednesday. Michael Michaels, who had partnered with plaintiff Lloyd Lake with hopes of representing the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner, is set to be deposed June 2, according to Lake's attorney Brian Watkins. Watkins said Wednesday that he planned to serve notice to USC Coach Pete Carroll and running backs coach Todd McNair for depositions in mid-to-late June.

New Orleans should sue SC for passing this off as anNFL running back. How many sacks did that guy have in houston.

14.5 l/y. His name is Mario Williams, from NC State.

Isn't it more relevant to ask about who was drafted BELOW Reggie Bush?

May 22, 2008  11:08 AM ET

I have no idea why the Saints have such a crappy run of draft picks in the past. The jury is still out on Bush but we have always picked early because, let's face it, we usually suck. We pick UF's Danny Wuerfull, UT's Ricky Williams, and now USC's Reggie Bush. I must admit that we really tried to move up to get Glen Dorsey and that would have made all of us very happy but I think that Ced Ellis will do the trick. At least I hope he will. Duece has produced, thank goodness.

Let's hope Deuce's knees don't explode. He's such a great runner...sucks that injuries have crippled his career

May 22, 2008  12:26 PM ET

It is way to early to call Bush a "bust" but if I was a USC fan I would certainly be disappointed that he didn't just pay this guy his money and make this go away, especially since the evidence (allegedly) is mounting against him. For the sake of USC Reggie just cough up the cash. In light of the other issues they are potentially dealing with (Mayo etc) am sure they would prefer it that way.

May 22, 2008  12:28 PM ET

Oops, I mean "too" early...

May 22, 2008  12:40 PM ET

For all of the hype Reggie Bush had, he is a bust. But it's not just him. USC players in general are mostly busts. It makes you wonder if the players they recruit are in fact that good, and also may help explain how the supposed "best team" has only won one national championship in the last 29 years. ONE, the great 2004 team.

========================================================
Profootballtalk.com reported that there is an increasing belief among NFL teams that draft-eligible players from the University of Southern California need additional scrutiny before selection day.

The concern is that too many of the players who emerge from the Trojan program love the SoCal lifestyle more than they love football. In 2003, the Trojans sent a trio of solid players into the league: Carson Palmer, Troy Polamalu, and Justin Fargas. Since then, however, the only guy who has proven to be a consistent high-end talent is linebacker Lofa Tatupu. The growing parade of busts includes Keary Colbert, Shaun Cody, Mike Patterson, Mike Williams, Darnell Bing, Dominique Byrd, Frostee Rucker, Winston Justice, Reggie Bush (relative to his draft status and hype), and Dwayne Jarrett.

As to Matt Leinart and LenDale White, the jury is still out, but might be coming back soon. There already are signs that football isn't their top priority. Otherwise, White wouldn't go blowfish in the offseason and Leinart would be exuding the demeanor of a guy who intends to be a starting NFL quarterback for a long time.

In regards to talent in college translating into the pros, it's a crap shoot. There is no doubt that Carroll can coach in college and put together great teams. I wonder if and when Colin Cowherd will start talking about how Carroll can't develop talent for the NFL like he did with Carr at Michigan?

As for Bush, I hope this is the beginning of the end for Bush and USC and this along with OJ MAYO are the two nails that put USC into the ground. I believe USC does engage in certain NCAA frowned upon activity to get certain kids to play for them.

LSU - you talk out of your a.s.s. way too much. enjoy your louisiana public state school education.

LSU - let me help you understand the above post, since obviously you aren't bright (supported by the fact that you went to lsu).

your argument: USC players are overrated.

my argument: USC has the most pro bowlers, super bowl players and Hall of Famers.

what this means to your narrow, short-sided argument: it's wrong because USC has produced the greatest number of significant NFL players, whether it be defined by Pro Bowlers, Super Bowl Players or Hall of Famers.

what this means to you: get off the computers at your job (Best Buy) and go help some people find a tv.

LSUDYNASTY...I think you struck a "nerve" wth MARINsur4. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe your point regarding USCs NFL disappointments was referring to the Pete Carroll era. I could pretty much match all of Marin's USC statistics by going through Notre Dame's history (11 National Championships, 7 HeismanTrophy winners, numerous All Americans and Pro Football Hall of Famers etc) but I don't think it is relevant to the current state of the Irish program. Does anyone else...?

May 22, 2008  02:14 PM ET

I think what LSU was trying to say is USC buys there players insteasd of actually recr. players, i also would say since the 70s untill today, has just been one big cheat, and every thing since the 70s is pretty much garbage for usc. So open up your trash can and throw away about half of your garbage up there.

May 22, 2008  02:15 PM ET

i dont think so gariboy

I don't think that LSUDYNASTY was this specific. Although he quotes from some website about recent USC draftees, and that assessment may be accurate, LSUDYNASTY's own words include the general statement that "USC players in general are mostly busts" and refer to the last three decades of USC football.

I agree that it is too early to call Reggie Bush a "bust." I don't know what Bush's deal was last year, but I lived in New Orleans through mid-2007 and can vouch that Bush was outstanding in the second half of his rookie year. Jury's still out on this kid.

May 22, 2008  02:44 PM ET

MARINsur4 -

Surely you aren't taking a shot at another school's academics. Your school is the SMU of the West Coast - the destination of choice for kids too stupid to get into the UC system.

Way to go.

May 22, 2008  02:50 PM ET

CRH - look at the rankings. In no way is USC the SMU of the west coast. know you sh.i.t. before you speak.

May 22, 2008  02:53 PM ET

SMU is a second-tier university. USC a first-tier university. Your school... probably third or fourth.

May 22, 2008  02:59 PM ET

and let's be honest, you couldn't afford to go to SC even if you got in.

MARINsur4

Dude, seriously you have some issues. Just as I thought.....LIVING IN THE PAST. First of all, no one cares that USC won 11 national championships in 1888, 1923, etc, etc.. It's all about NOWWWWWWWW. And Ron Yary? NO one has even heard of that guy....maybe my great grandpa??? IDK. I doubt you have either since you probably pasted that from like WIKI or something.

Next you act like USC is a world renown academic center. You think you are a Stanford (which by the way beat you last year in football), Notre Dame, Duke, or any ivy league school is on equal footing as you? Seriously.

Thirdly, just because everyone doesn't live in LA doesn't mean they are poor. Before you start criticizing people's economic status you should realize that millionaires live in every state, there are some on this board, there are some in my family. So yes I could afford to go to USC....without sweating it, and i've never been to public school a day in my life.

So, the majority of the USC players OF LATE have been busts, the proof is in any NFL database you can find. And you have only won one national championship since 1979. Maybe you were the best program of the 1920's and 1930's. But who really cares? Why would that come up now?

Now go back to your room, have mommie change your diaper, and go play with your GI Joes. Then you can go jump in the hot tub with your boy toy Leinart.
