Rams owner Chip Rosenbloom confirmed that he has been approached about selling the team but reiterated his family's interest in keeping the football franchise in St. Louis, its home since 1995. "When a team is passed from one generation to another, it becomes a calling card that the team must be for sale," said Rosenbloom, who became the team's chairman after his mother, Georgia Frontiere, died in January. "Nothing has changed since my mom's passing. We've been approached by several people. And while we deal with her estate, I can assure you we have every intention of keeping the Rams in St. Louis." A National Football League source told the Post-Dispatch that the sale of the Rams is being discussed in league circles.

Does it come with free parking?

May 22, 2008  09:50 AM ET

"yah, yah, we'll keep the team in St. Louis, just take the deal"

Right.

Ask Seatle about that

I hope he is being upfront about this...... St Louis has supported the Rams from the get go.

PS The revenues for any team moving into LA would far exceed most other markets. Just goes to show what not having an NFL-class stadium - the Colosseum ain't it - will do to you.

May 22, 2008  11:09 AM ET

I know, George. That's what I'm afraid of...... we've already had one NFL team leave (due to Bidwill's idiocy), it would be awful to lose another. The Rams are so supported by the STL fans, though, I can't see the NFL wanting this to happen. Especially now that Tags is gone.

Relocate the team to Boise.

I guess Boise would be better than Saskatoon.

Bill sl - this post is talking about the Rams football team......it's not about the Cubs.....

May 22, 2008  04:29 PM ET

"Lame fan base"!?! That's just ignorant, "bill sl". St. Louis is often regarded as having the most knowledgeable sports fans in America.

To me it sounds like you've confused the Santa Claus-booing, Michael Irvin injury-cheering, battery throwing idiots in Philadelphia with the great sports fans of St. Louis.

May 22, 2008  04:32 PM ET

...That being said, I actually DO think that the Rams will move back to Los Angeles. Rosenbloom is choosing his words TOO carefully if you know what I mean. When asked if they were going to move the Rams, his first denial was "I'll remind you that we're under lease with the City of St. Louis." His second was "WHILE WE DEAL WITH HER ESTATE, I can assure you we have every intention of keeping the Rams in St. Louis." Those aren't exactly the types of denials that have me feeling confident that the Rams are going to be staying in St. Louis for the next generation.

"Toronto is the place to be - fun living is the life for me - land stretching out so far and wide - keep St. Louis just give me the countryside" !!!
Sincerely - A Interested Buyer

M-a-r-s - Amen on your first post......

On your second post, sadly, I am afraid that you might be onto something. I don't think I trust Rosenbloom, and he does seem to be choosing his words carefully. This will be a crying shame if the Rams go back to the fair weather fans in LA

I don't like the stadium, but I think STL fans are pretty good ones. Busch Stadium is one of the best places to see baseball in America. One of the worse fan bases is SF and LA isn't far behind. Crappy place for football or baseball. Of course, as we learn from "South Park," people in SF love the smell of their own f arts. People in LA try to sell them. (BTW, I grew up in NorCal.)

May 22, 2008  05:01 PM ET

Good comments, George. People don't have to like the stadium, but bill sl,'s contention that it is outdated and dumpy is off the mark. The Dome is only 13 years old, and the acoustics are not good, but it is not a "dumpy" stadium. St Louis fans are not lame at all......Particularly when compared to LA fans

Mom was a gold digger, but it has worked out well for Sonny Boy. Ain't Love Grand?

May 22, 2008  10:15 PM ET

I thought it was interesting Chip never really said no to selling the Raams.

May 23, 2008  02:52 PM ET

Whatever happened to your leftoutinthecold stepbrother Steve Rosembloom? Anyway sell them to a group that will bring them back to LA or OC

May 23, 2008  03:17 PM ET

LA/OC didn't support the Rams worth crap when they were there the first time......why would they want to come back?
