Abreu unlikely to return to Yankees
Bobby Abreu has a $16 million option for next season that the Yankees seem unlikely to exercise if his slump continues.

Wow, look at all the money the Yankees won't have next year that they have this year...Abreu will be gone...A-rod will be gone....Clemens will be gone...Giambi will be gone....how many millions will that be taken off the books????

He is overrated in the AL...I still believe he can be better in the NL....Where does anyone see him going next year, and could he possibly be traded before years end??

He was fine in the AL last year.
He looks confused at the plate this year.
He is letting strikes go by and swinging at balls out of the zone, just uncomfortable looking. Not good for a guy who uses his plate discipline to generate some of his offense. I expect him to turn around .400+ lifetime on base %.

Bobby looks to be pressing which is not his game. I don't see this continuing to long. The numbers will be there when its all said and done.

he really does look mystified at the plate and in the field. Last year he looked smooth all the way around. I'm guessing they'll trade him, unless he does a serious turnaround and think they can sign for something much less than 16 mil. I don't think they ever intended to pay that.

The most overrated player in baseball. If you've suffered through watching him play for a season or two, you'll see that he is all about the meaningless hit and won't extend for anything not hit right at him - forward and especially backward. BTW - why doesn't anyone ever talk about him and steroids - take a look at his precipitous power decline.

Trade Abreu at the dedline. What a mistake to get rid of Sheff. I am not a fan of Sheff's personality but he sure adds strength to the lineup.

I think so too. I was just pointing out how he has looked so far. It is downright disturbing to see a career hitter of his magnitude (plate discipline) looking so out of it at the plate.
If he had bee hitting in the 3 spot we would be alot closer. Its not just him, but he had been in a key spot.

They should trade him back to Philly for Ryan Howard, the Phillies obviously can't afford Howard so they should give him to a team that does, plus it would take care of the Yankees first base problems
