Michigan has a replacement for Ekpe Udoh. The Wolverines signed German forward Robin Benzing, a 6-foot-10, 205-pounder. European scouts compare his potential to fellow German Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks because he can play inside and out.

This guy + Beilein = exciting possibilities. Maybe even better than tractor trailer...

But he might not be eligible to play next season and if so, doesn't help UM at all after losing UDOH. But a nice pick up none the less as the kid will have a year to acclimate himself to his new home and beef up. Gives new meaning to BMW (Big Man Working)

Sounds like a good signing. Not sure, really.

Mich will be back to the tourney soon with Beilein..........
He runs a great college system

J. HOVA...He is 6 foot 10 and white. Who says he can slam dunk...?

May 23, 2008  03:13 PM ET

Good points.

OK, fine how do you say the black guy blocked my shot in German?

May 23, 2008  03:19 PM ET

"Das is no goot!"

May 23, 2008  03:19 PM ET

If he can shoot like Dirk then he should be a good fit, otherwise its another wasted talent like most big men Beilein recruits. Not like they try to rebound or defend, just throw up the shot.

Just look at Joe Alexander, another year under Beilein and he would not be on any nba lists, 1 year under a coach that understands players strengths and the importance of rebounds/defense and he is projected in the top 20 prospects.

May 23, 2008  03:53 PM ET

He better put on weight because I thought they said he was from germany not eithopia.

May 23, 2008  03:55 PM ET

Oh yeah go illini

May 23, 2008  05:05 PM ET

In Communist Russia, Big Man lands on you.

May 23, 2008  05:29 PM ET

pugz,

If Beilein would have stayed at WVU, Joe Alexander would have transferred. He had this kid buried on the bench.

May 23, 2008  06:19 PM ET

Does he mean indoors and outdoors?

May 23, 2008  08:33 PM ET

6'10" is good. 205 pounds? Is he on a 15 calorie per day diet? Better call Clemens quick!

May 23, 2008  10:25 PM ET

I guess all that money I sent to Sally Struthers never got there?

May 24, 2008  03:25 PM ET

"OK, fine how do you say the black guy blocked my shot in German?"
J. HOVA: MISTER UNTOUCHABLE

It technically would be "Der schwarzen mann blocked mein shot"

Completely agree BWD, no one would have even heard of Joe.
