Sabres coach turns PGA caddie

PGA golfer Dudley Hart is using friend Lindy Ruff, the Buffalo Sabres coach, as his caddie in the Crown Plaza Invitational. "He's trying to stay out of the way," Hart said. Isn't that what the Stars' Brett Hull was doing when his foot entered the crease on the deciding goal against Buffalo in the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals? "A rule is a rule; it wasn't a goal," Hart said, incorrectly.

And if anybody messes with Duds, Lindsey can hammer em!!

"He's trying to stay out of the way," Hart said.

That is until Darcy Tucker runs out on the 15th hole and elbows Hart. Then all bets are off.

Up until this very moment...I thought Happy Gilmore was pure fiction. Rumour has it that there is going to be several coaches on the course for this event...Many of them working as grounds keepers due to unemployment.

wtf is this garbage

May 23, 2008  09:34 AM ET

I hope this isn't a prelude of things to come. Brushing up in case the Sabres let him go? Nah! Just having fun.

BTW, if you don't know how to play golf, it's a lot more fun carrying the clubs for someone who does that looking for lost balls in the woods all the time! I'm speaking from experience. After a 9 holes I had no more clubs left to play with. They all ended up wrapped around tree trunks.

DCruiser...I know what you mean...
Once met a guy in the clubhouse with a 9 iron wrapped around his neck... What happened to you? I asked.
He said he lost his ball in the woods. He saw a cow standing nearby wagging her tail. On closer inspection...He noticed a golf ball stuck under the tail. A titlist 3...He used a 1 and then noticed a women also searching for a ball.
So he lifted up the cows tail and asked her...
"Hey lady...does this look like yours?"

Way to sneak the Brett Hull comment into the article. Guess what, Buffalo. That was almost ten years ago now, it won't be replayed again, and Dallas still has their names on the Cup. Get the **** over it.

May 23, 2008  11:27 AM ET

Amendment to my last post: I just realized that this was in the Dallas Morning News. Guess that really didn't belong in there. But still, Buffalo. Get the **** over it.

May 23, 2008  11:43 AM ET

Seems to me that Bill Nichols is incorrect -no goal.

May 23, 2008  11:44 AM ET

But still, Buffalo. Get the **** over it.

I've been there, there isn't a whole lot to do there otherwise

Dudley Hart said his choice of caddy was choosing someone for his expertise in helping golfers hit out of tall grass. Hart said - "if I'm stuck in the tall grass I need Ruff" !!!

Go eff yourself Dallas Morning News. NO GOAL!!!

May 23, 2008  12:27 PM ET

That's the closest Buffalo will ever get to winning a cup. When they have a good season, they let the best players sign on with another team. And that Ryan Miller needs to go elsewhere....please.I'm a Sabres fan by the way so no need to call me a hater.Ahh,what the ****,call me a hater.

May 23, 2008  12:50 PM ET
