Pacman pays Las Vegas debt

Suspended Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones sent a check to a Las Vegas casino Friday to pay off a $20,000 gambling debt, according to his agent, Manny Arora. Jones received a $10,000 marker and two $5,000 markers, which serve as lines of credit in a casino, at Caesar's Palace in September. Because of Jones' non-payment, Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Bernie Zadrowski requested Thursday that felony theft and fraud charges be filed against Jones. Zadrowski said Friday that the debt is paid, along with $1,675 in statutory fees and penalties attached to it, and that the request for charges had been withdrawn.

What a nice guy. He paid off his gambling debt. I think I want him to date my daughter now.

May 24, 2008  07:53 AM ET

That should make it easier for The Commish to reinstate him. The guy is a train wreck waiting to happen. He has a no contest entered for one charge of assault against him and has to appear as a " witness" in a trial involving a shooting. Who knows how that will play out. Would you bet on this guy staying clean? That is what his supporters are asking the NFL to do. Just how much money would you put on that bet?

He must have used some of that script club money because he was just being rebellion.

West Virginia must have a really high standards for it's collegiate athletes.

May 24, 2008  08:30 AM ET

Well, just as long as he helps get my Cowboys to the Superbowl this year, I'll turn a blind eye on his past indiscretions. Ray Lewis?

Yeah, whatever. They should let this play out and, if found innocent of everything, then reinstate him.

pac still hasn't paid for what he caused in vegas in feb 07.

How come this jackasss has to wait until they threaten him with criminal charges to pay off his debt? Wouldn't you think that if you wanted to be reinstated and be able to play football again, you'd take care of ANY and ALL outstanding and existing problems that might prevent you from playing again. This is exactly the type of player I want on my team. He fits right in in Dallas with the other clowns.

Not even close. I don't know for how many years running now, but WV has been the biggest party school for a while and the players basically get to do whatever they want. My buddy went there and played and told me first hand. I also went to college and played and saw it happen to a buddy of mine who now plays in the NFL. He got away with everything and he did some outrageous stuff. So, when pondering whether they are held to really high standards, no, they're not. If they were to get into trouble in school, the head coach took care of them.

There are a lot of ignorant, racist comments that plague this site everyday. And then you have a complete idiot, misguided, immature, wild individual like Adam Jones who needs some serious rehabilitation still, who fires up all the people here who spew the stupid things they do.And no one here has an ounce of an chance justifiably defending this guy. Adam Jones deserves every negative comment here (with the exception of racist comments). He is despicable.

EastCoastKeith,

I agree with you completely, but WOW. First post of the day on this thread and you came on strong right off the bat. Did your holiday weekend not get off to a good start?

May 24, 2008  11:04 AM ET

He paid it, it's over. Reading some of these comments I know EVERYBODY on here pays ALL their bills on time with no problem..

May 24, 2008  11:14 AM ET

Here's the larger issue here: Jones keeps showing that he hasn't learned a damn thing from what's happened to him. He keeps going in strip clubs and casinos and other places where you can get in a lot of trouble. Anyone with half a brain would act like a total choirboy during this suspension time. Hell, I might not leave the house except to go to church. But he keeps on doing exactly what got him in trouble before.

As for the "I know EVERYBODY on here pays ALL their bills on time with no problem" line, well, yeah, I can't say that all my credit card bills have gotten in exactly on time, but, at the same time, my behavior is not being scrutinized so closely to see if I can get back to doing my job. And if it was, you wouldn't see me down at the Can Shakers' Gentlemen's Club.

JJ730: Dude, not everyone on here pulls down the cash this guy does, and I also doubt most of us are dealing with the same self-inflicted issues this buffoon is either. He's just another spoiled brat of an athlete who thinks he can do whatever he wants - it isn't difficult to see how those regular Joe's in our ranks could be eager to criticize someone who's throwing away his career because he's too much of a child.

What a looser can"t keep his name out of the news for a day!!!

May 24, 2008  11:59 AM ET

My point being, this is a DA who's trying to get on his 15 mins of fame. He had it with Charles Barkley and now he's doing it with Pacman. Pacman wasn't charged with anything here. The judge had the arrest warrant and didn't sign it. So apparently he didn't think it was worth signing at the time. I just think there's a better way to go about getting your money. If Peyton Manning or Tom Brady owed $50,000 to Visa, would it be front page news? Don't try to make a headline just because you see the name Pacman on something. I personally don't care about Pacman's credit report. I guess some of you do..oh well.

For the same reason it takes threatening millions of college graduates with legal action if they don't start paying their student loans. They simply and convienently forget they are there. Especially with student loans. They're like, "screw em. They'll never find me". I think, and I'm way off topic here, that loan agencies like Sallie Mae should have the right to hold a person's degree in hock until they start paying their loans. Some of these people have $200,000 jobs and still don't pay them. They even get credit where the creditors know they have outstanding debts.

I've learned not to speak common sense on here. This right here, is common sense.

It's sure going to be sweet with him playing that Devin Hester-role for the Cowboys.

Don't be hatin' on Pac yo! He's led a life of not being held accountable for what he does. Why should he see the need to change now?
