Parcells unhappy with Taylor offers

Posted: Saturday May 24, 2008 07:50AM ET

The Dolphins have not gotten any offers better than a fourth-round pick for Jason Taylor, which isn't enough for Bill Parcells to justify pulling the trigger. That's why various reports tying Taylor to the Ravens, the Redskins and the Chargers Friday are unlikely to turn into immediate deals.

It's Not!

I bet if someone offered him the "bro" or the "manzier" for Taylor he would take it.

Jason and his ballerina outfit for how much?

randy moss in his prime got a 4th round pick. how much do you think you will get for taylor past his prime?

Report Offensive Comment

Well pw, he is in fantastic shape. That dancing thing kept him fit in the off-season. If the raging ego that is Bill Parcells has a problem with him then he should let him go. I mean, this is Chad Johnson we're talking about here. Jason hasn't bad mouthed his team.

The Dolphins should let Taylor decide. Play for them or pack it in..They either get a good player on their team or they lose his contract. Win Win..

Want to know why the Dolphins didn't get better offers? Because the new idiot coach of the Dolphins Sprano whatever the name called Taylor out for not being there for camp and all that and the Dolphins are basically implying they don't want Taylor therefore his stock has decreased. Blame the coach!!!

hooah, understand you are a Taylor fan, but name the last trade in the nfl for a player older than 32 which landed a first day pick?

not saying it can't be done or hasn't happened, just that I can't recall the last time it happened.

Actually, The New Jersey Con Man never likes any stars on teams that he takes over. Look at his past record. He likes to find the diamond in the rough and show the old timers at the domino hall that he still has it. The Cowboys should trade one of Parcells former upchucks to the Dolph's (Carpenter) along with a fourth rd pick. That should do it~

I heard that he is going to rename the Dolphins the "Miami Man Boobs"

Randy moss last year was not in his prime, that was with minnesota, kinda scary

Moss was thought to be done after playing in Oakland

Many thought he had done all he could do

was under 32 at time of trade, responded with his 2nd most receiving yards for a season in his career. and most tds of any of his seasons as a pro. perhaps this is the season father time starts to slow him, but it certainly wasn't last season.

4th round pick for a guy who was clearly dogging it intentionally to get traded isnt that bad......They got something for him

I'm not necessarily a Jason Taylor fan and, maybe a number 1 is too much, but my thought was he isn't trying to force the organization to trade him like Johnson is. Parcells, on the other hand, is an idiot and says whatever is on his mind. No wonder players end up hating him. Except for Keyshawn that is.

PW, you can't say Randy Moss was "in his prime" when the Patriots landed him. He had major attitude issues and his motivation was suspect. He'd also just put together the worst season of his career. There were questions surrounding him whether his poor production was a lack of effort (which it wound up being) or diminishing skills. Had the Raiders known they were trading a guy who could go for 1500 yards and 23 touchdowns, they'd have gotten a lot more for him. Also, remember that Moss had the title of "locker-room cancer" slapped on him before the trade. Taylor hasn't shown any declining skills, injury concerns, or insubordination issues. His value now is easily higher than Moss's was a year ago this time.

Now, on to Taylor. Had the Dolphins not shown their hand so much, they certainly would have been able to get at least a second round pick for Taylor. Even at 32, he's still a prolific pass rusher who consistently registers double digit sacks. How many second or third round picks deliver even ONE pro-bowl season? Taylor will deliver at least two for the team that gets him. However, the Dolphins have now come out and basically told everyone Taylor isn't going to play for them, so they have no leverage. I don't understand how Parcells thought he was going to get a good return for Taylor by basically making everything regarding their DE public. They're in a bad spot, and its their own fault.

If he has to go anywhere, for Taylor's sake, I hope it's San Diego. I mean, the Ravens were the only team Miami beat last season.
