Can leaner Williams save career?
Jeff Fisher couldn't have been more frank with Mike Williams: Lose weight or else. Fisher warned Williams in January that when the receiver returned for offseason workouts the numbers on the scale would say a lot about what the 10th pick overall in the 2005 draft wanted for his professional future. After all, it was Williams who found himself with his third NFL team in four seasons. Williams responded, losing more than 30 pounds and arriving bright and early that first day eager to show off his hard work. Message seemingly received.

All that work for nothing. If the Titans just had someone to throw him the ball...

Thats nice, but he still is a bust in the NFL. Looks good though..

He was basically a lot of hype in college anyway. I didn't think he was going to do much in the NFL. The guys are too fast in the NFL. College star does not equate to NFL star.

this sounds an awful lot like a David Boston story.

His name IS Mike. Something about that name. Jordan or Tyson. Schimdt or Vick. Finley or Spinks. Cooper or Ray Richardson. You get the picture.

Yeah 50yearfan, so far he's been a bust. But he obviously had some physical tools for a team to spend the #10 pick on him. Maybe he turns it around, and he has the best shot to do that in Tennessee, where you have a talented young QB looking for dependable reciever and not a single established pass catcher (besides Alge Crumpler) among the bunch.

BigBlue4You ..Maybe, but it sure looks like another case of " looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane."
One out of every three first rounders is out of the league after four years.

Yeah, agreed 50yearfan...let's see what happens. You're absolutely right on the 1st rounder observation. I don't think he's gonna turn into a 1,200 yard, 10 TD reciever that he should be given his high draft stock. He's always struck me as someone with a boatload of talent but very little focus. If he's actually sincere about putting in the work this time, he could be a steal for the Titans.

BigBlue4You .. I will say this. If he cannot get it done with a coach like Fisher, then he is out of the league next year. His last stop.

He is with the Titans right now whether he makes the cut remains yet to be seen, but from what I have watched at the practice facility he looks a lot better he doesnt have the speed so the titans have been working him in the slot.

The Titans need all the help they can get. Lets be honest, this is probably his last shot at an NFL career. That's got to be a hell of a motivational tool. I think he can contribute but don't expect #1 or #2 receiver performance. If he sucks it up this year, does what he's supposed to do and slims down a little more I can see them keeping him around as a #3 receiver and maybe even a #2 next year (assuming he stays with it this year).

Weight loss + no talent = MIKE WILLIAMS!!!

Well i am going to go in the opposite direction. I think and kinda hope he does well in Tenn. All anybody does is bag on him, just because he wasn't a superstar right from the bat. Good on ya Mike for losing that weight and being prepared for OTA'S, now bring it and earn a spot on that roster for the season.
