Unhappy Garcia won't hold out

Jeff Garcia may be unhappy with his contract, but he intends to fulfill it. With all the teeth gnashing by the Pro Bowl quarterback over the past few weeks, the most important point was lost. Garcia will not miss a day of training camp. He will not miss a regular-season practice. Barring injury, he will be the starter Sept. 7 at New Orleans. It doesn't mean his mind will be clear. Garcia's pads could come with shoulder chips because he is upset about the slow pace of talks regarding an extension.

You see, this is what a veteran does. He discusses his needs but still is a team player. Hello young, selfish players. This is your role model.

Hooah!05 ...I agree . He is also a veteran who has five other QBs behind him. Smart enough to know that he has limited power. He has been replaced before..

Limited??? Those five other QBs stink and he knows that. However, we've seen Gruden in action (Keyshawn) so you may be right.

I hope he has a great season this year.

May 25, 2008  10:14 AM ET

He holds none of the trump cards and is one of 12 QB's. Of course he'll report, if not he'll lose moolah.

Oh god, just stop whining and play for your team!

She's probably very high maintenance.

And BucMaster, he did say he was reporting. So that infers he's playing for his team.

Anyone remember the song lyrics, if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make an ugly woman your wife.?

Well we don't see this everyday......

May 25, 2008  01:23 PM ET

Is there any player who is happy with thier contract?

In the new CBA, the league should ask that no player can comment on thier contract with more than 1 year remaining.

May 25, 2008  02:26 PM ET

No one is ever happy with their contract

Wow! Jeff Garcia, unhappy yet honoring his contract without any shenanigans. Charles Barkley manning up to his gambling woes and making good on his debts.

I have two new heroes in the sports world and in the same week. These are real role models!

jeff garcia has had the bad luck to be on teams that were not so good I remember watching him play for the 49ers with owens who was just beginning toact like a baby and he was good then the eagles and he was good now tampa and he's good it just to bad he's playing for a butthead like Gruden who's rep is based on winning a Superbowl with Tony Dungy's team. This guy on a Quality team and he'd be in the Hall Of Fame!!

May 26, 2008  01:18 AM ET

While I give the Dancing Sprite credit for going to work even though he doesn't like his contract, I think he should be thankful to get whatever they offer. Gacia ia at best an average QB. He benifited from the system that SF used. He stunk in Cleveland and Detroit. He then caught lightning in a bottle in Philly. The only reason why he went to PB last was because the NFC was running out of QBs to send. Be thankful you are playing.

No tengo contento, Senor Garcia? Then we will pay you in pesos hombre. Now get on the field and quit whining. Andele!

After reading this article Garcia's father was heard to comment - "Jeff is a "chip" off the old block" !!!
