Cavs to make another run at Redd?

09:47 AM ET 05.27 | The Milwaukee Bucks and Michael Redd have reportedly grown disenchanted with one another, and Redd is on the trading block. Those who follow hoops free agency will remember that the Cavs courted Redd a few years ago, but he elected to take the cabbage and stay with the Bucks. I think he's having more than a few regrets about that move. And judging from the comments of local Cavaliers fans, they would love the chance to add Redd to the roster, believing it might provide a sense of call after LeBron James stated publicly that tweaks needed to be made to the roster to get him some help.

The Cavs need to get rid of Ben Wallace's big salary and worthless production for a point guard who:

1- Can play defense
2- Shoot the three
3- QB the game

He doesn't have to be a major play maker. LeBron can create his own shot and demand the double team. Szerbiac and B. Wallace wont do the trick.

Unfortunately, the fans won't make the decision. What is Ferry saying?

May 27, 2008  10:25 AM ET

I can see Redd having a huge role on the team. Double teaming James wouldn't be as effective because Redd is such a great shooter. A lot of pressure would be taken away from Lebron James.

Redd messed this up and could have been a Cav before. Players always seems to have an opinion yet when its contract time money is the only language they speak. Whether you make 50 mil or 35 milit doesnt matter, as long as you make 2 mil a eyar you will be comfortable.

Salaries should be capped anyway and lets not even get started with NFL contract with Jamarcuss Russel and Matt Ryan already making Tom Brady money? Are you kidding me?

Bron-Bron needs to come to the Knicks were he belongs!! Cleveland is a dump hole! Not a place to be for such a delicious basketball star!!!

May 27, 2008  11:07 AM ET

milwaukee needs to get something decent out of this trade, maybe boobie gibson?

May 27, 2008  11:41 AM ET

You need to get a life I is the man! New York City is the cesspool of America. Why would LeBron want to live his palatial estate near his hometown of Akron to live in an overpriced condo in Manhattan. Besides, Isaih so messed up the Knicks roster that it will take Walsh AND GOD to fix that mess. LeBron wants to be his generation's Jim Brown to the Cleveland fans and he trusts that Ferry and Gilbert will provide the missing pieces to help him bring a Championship to Cleveland

I really wish grown men would stop calling Lebron James "Bron-Bron." It sounds horribly homosexual.

That being said, Cleveland need a lot of things. Varejao is soft, Delonte West and Gibson disappear for games at a time....they need to blow up the roster and rebuild around Lebron and Ilgauskas, who maybe only has 1 or 2 more solid years left before players like Dwight Howard eat him alive.

May 27, 2008  11:55 AM ET

I don't see this happening. It would be great for the Cavs but they have no one to offer to the Bucks. It looks like the Cavs are set on Delonte, Wallace is useless, Wally and Boobie might fit in with the Bucks, but that's not enough to get an all-star like Mike Redd.

May 27, 2008  11:58 AM ET

Michael forget about the "cabbage" and come take the "green' - as in Celtic Green !!!

May 27, 2008  12:23 PM ET

C-Smith strikes again!

Ahem, Michael Redd would be a decent fit in Cleveland. He's only 28 years old and a proven assasin. A pure shooting guard if there ever was one. Unfortunately, I doubt Milwaukee will entertain a Wallace/Sczerbiak offer. They will want Boobie Gibson and/or maybe Varejao, who Cleveland need to succeed.

trade him for Pat Riley

May 27, 2008  12:45 PM ET

FORGET CLEVELAND; how about the LAKERS? We will trade Walton and Odom for Redd and Charlie V.................................DYNASTY FOR REAL

May 27, 2008  12:50 PM ET

we will give you ricky davis and dequan cook

May 27, 2008  12:56 PM ET

Anyone thinking that Redd would fit in well with the Suns? He makes about $12 million a year, which means the Suns could send Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, and Arlando Tucker to Milwaukee. Barbosa alone is probably better than anything Cleveland could offer.

May 27, 2008  12:57 PM ET

lol.....cleveland is not going to get Redd for a bag of potatos/
they will want gipson, a draft pick, another young player and then a veteran with an expiring contract to match up with the salary Redd is making.
Not going to happen

May 27, 2008  01:14 PM ET

Cavs have Wally's expiring contract (13 millish)... plus probably Boobie and a 1 or Varajao and a 1...maybe both of them and a 1...either way as a Cavs fan I would do it...We need to blow this team up and rebuild around LBJ...We got two years and a whole lot of freed up $$$ to give LeBron a team he can win with...He's not going anywhere...A max player hasn't left his own team in over 12 years...Shaq was the last to do it...No player in the last 12 years has left when being offered a max deal by his current team...LeBron loves this town almost as much as we love him...But Championship capability overrides all in this case...No chance he ends up in NY or Brooklyn...Neither team will offer him the ONLY thing he'd leave for...a ring...and in two years he'll start to get plenty here.

May 27, 2008  01:23 PM ET

Redd and Charlie V to Washington for Agent 0, Etan Thomas, and McGwire

Daniels, Redd, Butler, Jamison, and Haywood with Charlie V off the the bench

L-Bron, needs to get outta the Erie area Swamps and gets to moving to the Big Apple, deep down inside you can tell he aint happy in Ohio -- NY would make him an even bigger star!
Bron-Bron come home , you sweet thing!
