Cabrera feels neglected by Ozzie

06:05 AM ET 05.28 | The gulf between Orlando Cabrera and Ozzie Guillen seems as wide as Lake Michigan after the White Sox's shortstop implied Tuesday he didn't have the support of his manager after placing two calls during games to complain about unfavorable official scoring. Cabrera personally called the press box May 3 in Toronto and Thursday at U.S. Cellular to express his displeasure over errors charged against him. Both calls were overturned, but Guillen reiterated he thought the phone calls were made for selfish reasons.

Ridiculous. This guy plays on a team full of unselfish players and for a manager who will do ANYTHING to protect his players whether they are right or wrong. Screw Cabrera. Anyone need a GG winning SS relatively cheap? Take the GG (and begging official scorers to change errors into hits) somewhere else.

If I was charged with an error when it wasn't an error then I would follow the procedures to appeal each decision. He did nothing wrong, proven by the fact the errors were overturned. Maybe Oz could have been more supportive.
This also highlights more deficencies in the officiating of MLB games... Just adding to the pile of bad calls and misjudgements by scorers and umps.

renteria v cabrera they were in a business venture that went bad; cabrera backed out leaving renteria to foot the bill...is the gist. both are from venezuela. cabrera was tabbed as the venezueluan trash and renteria the privileged.
i've never heard of a player actually calling the official scorer to complain about a call.........what a idiot!! they should get rif of him with the quickness!!

I wish someone would kidnap Ozzie Guillen and take him somewhere...preferably South America...where we would never have to see or listen to his annoying face again. Him and Joakim Noah should get a place together.

what if home runs could be fixed after the game??? Would you blame a player for calling the official scorer to get that fixed??? I think not.

you know something...if you idiots are not going to comment on this article, quit wasting the space and go somewhere else to post your ****. now , for one why slam ozzie? he ahs nothing to do with this except he pretty much stated it the way it is, second, cabrera has been a major disappointment and i suppose getting a couple errors taken off of his stats will make him look better. this is just a stopover for him until he gets his big money contract from someone who is willing to pay. he will be gone at the end of the year, if not before, and the way it stands right now, this was by far the worst of the off season moves the sox made. right now it is hard to tell the difference between him and uribe!

you must be new to T&R. by my unofficial count, 96.78% of all posts on T&R have nothing to do with the actual articles. This makes another one.
I'll be honest - I never read any of the articles....b/c most of them are **** anyway. I come here for the witty banter.

I have never heard of a player calling the official scorer to complain. I've been following baseball for nearly 50 years. What a freakin' crybaby. Play the game you overpaid sissy.

Cabrera is garbage. Uribe is a better fielding SS. On my count Cabrera should be in double digit errors at this point in the season. He has been incredibly disappointing (and I wasn't even expecting numbers near what he put up last year), and I hope that Alexei Ramirez can put together a body of work before the offseason that might lead Sox leadership to consider him as the 2009 starting SS.

USG, here's the problem with trying to get an error overturned: you just turned it into a hit against your pitcher and, if there was a run scored, an earned run against your ERA.
It's not like a HR, which would count against the other team. It's a way of saying, "It's not my fault...it's my teammate's fault!" Boggs did it once, and his pitcher got pissed at him for it.
It doesn't sit well in the clubhouse.
