Penn calls for St. Pierre match

B.J. Penn leaned over to Sean Sherk on Saturday seconds after their lightweight title fight at UFC 84 ended with a brutal knockout in the third round and told him they helped make one of the biggest fights in mixed martial arts history. But the show paled into comparison to what could be next. Penn called out welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre after one of the finest performances of his career in the total destruction of Sherk. Penn stopped Sherk at the end of the third with a left-right combination, a flying knee and then a brutal ground and pound.

Great, a Hawaiian and a Frenchman. Like a battle between cripples.

I EFFIN RULE, you're an idiot. This fight will be a great one. I have no problem if you don;t like MMA, but go annoy some other people.

This portly Penn guy couldnt beat up a krispy kreme donut. So Jason, **** and go back to you watching your glorified WWE.

this would be a hella fight.....i can't wait to see it!! i don't think it'll happen til both defend their titles. but this is the fight i want to see!! i like penn in this one; stamina is much improved and i think his ground game and hands are better. but gsp is the absolute truth.......excellent hands and some nasty quick kicks. penn.......TKO in rd 3

Chong, GSP is already scheduled to fight Fitch, and Dana said that Penn will fight the winner if Florian/Huerta next, but after those fights these two should be matched up.

May 28, 2008  09:32 AM ET

RULE, it's funny that a guy with a picture of a fat guy is calling anyone portly, and obviously you didn;t see Penn beat Sherk, because he is anything than portly. I don't know too many portly peoply that fight at 155 pounds.

May 28, 2008  09:37 AM ET

jason70 you got it right effin rule is an idiot....its pointless with him

May 28, 2008  09:46 AM ET

I'm not even a Penn fan. I reseect him as a fighter, but don't really like him a whole lot. Would love to se these two fight though.

May 28, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Ok, let me restate that. I haven't seen too many men who are professinal fighters at 5"10" and 155 who are portly. Yeah, BJ definitely isn't the most cut fighter, but that hasn't seem to stop him from beating people up.

This is the guy that White said would kill Kimbo, really, I've never seen him fight. But really?

May 28, 2008  01:28 PM ET

Yeah, really. Believe it. Taht's the same thing everyone said when they saw Royce Gracie against all the other fighters in the ealy UFC's. Skill beats brute force. Kimbo would be tapping in the first round easily.

May 28, 2008  04:25 PM ET

Yeah I hated Gracie for that. Looked like he should get the tar beat out of him, but always maneged to strangle the life out of guys until they tapped. I guess I prefer to see guys get knocked the f... out.

May 28, 2008  04:28 PM ET

Jason u realy think that Penn would beat Kimbo! Yea Royce beat up on bigger guys 15 years ago look what Matt Huges did to him! The UFC is compleatly different now. Sory but u need the stop listening to your girlefreind cuse size does matter!

May 28, 2008  04:44 PM ET

PENN CAN ASK WHITE FOR ALL THE RE-MATCHES HE WANTS WITH GSP, BUT ALL THE ENDDINGS ARE GOING TO BE THE SAME WITH GSP DEFEATING PENN.

May 28, 2008  07:33 PM ET

gsp is a beast at mma. he will destroy him again and again,

May 28, 2008  09:14 PM ET

i hope bj penn's endurance is better then it's been in the past

May 28, 2008  09:31 PM ET

Chokeit, maybe you should get out of your bedroom and stop choking your chicken and watch some MMA fights. Penn is widely considered one of the best fighters in the world and Kimbo is only a year into the sport and would get easily submitted on the ground. As far as what Matt Hughes did to him we arent talking about Matt Hughes, we're talking about Kimbo Slice. Hughes is a world class wrester and would also beat Kimbo even though he is smaller. Hughes has the skills to compete with BJ, while Kimbo does not.
