Blues fighting Leafs for Armstrong

According to sources, the Blues are definitely battling the Leafs to land Doug Armstrong. Radio stations in St. Louis reported throughout yesterday that the Blues have a deal on the table for Armstrong to become the club's GM-in-waiting. Armstrong -- or whomever the Blues hire -- would take over full GM duties when incumbent Larry Pleau retires or leaves the club for personal reasons. Pleau's wife is battling cancer. Armstrong may not even be interviewed in Toronto for the full-time GM job, a post that is continually tied to Anaheim's Brian Burke despite the fact Burke has a year remaining on his contract. Armstrong, though, is high on the Leafs' plans for the management team.

Looks like the Blues "won".

so he hasn't interviewed with the Leafs, but the Leafs and Blues are battling for him? The Toronto Star is stupid. Its been announced he's agreed in principle to a deal with St. Louis already, yet here we are again, with the Maple Leaf Media not accepting that people would rather work elsewhere, so they continue to make it sound like the Leafs are in the hunt for his services. Ridiculous

Yeah I don't know if there could be a more backasswards organization in the world. Just incredible.

I can`t wait till Burke`s deal is done in Cali and he goes to some other team not named the Leafs. I swear the Toronto media makes all these rumours up so that people will talk about something other then how **** the Leafs are.

What's this...another Dennis Hopper article?

May 29, 2008  09:38 AM ET

Hahahahahah!

The Blues are going to the Leafs!!

Gocan is right. Last night I flicked on TSN before the game where I immediatly hesitated as I wondered what sports award show Pamala Anderson was hosting?
Then I realized it wasn't Pamala at all. Only Mats Sundin & Mark Messier standing closely together. What a great "Pair" those two make.

Amstrong is signing as GM with the Blues is the bottom line.

You know, when Sundin and Messier put their heads together, they make a real @$.$ of themselves.

May 29, 2008  11:26 AM ET

I think he'll end up in St Louis......

May 29, 2008  11:34 AM ET

Yeah, I can hear the heated argument from here!

"You take him!"
"No, no, no! You take him! You saw him first!"
"No! I insist! You take him!"

Anatomically speaking...I was thinking higher up and on the other side...Thus the Pamala reference.

Man I just love those Mats Sundin interview though...
Mats, will you sign with the Leafs?
Eh...I don't know.
Mats, will you retire?
Er...I don't know?
Mats, will you test free agency?
Eh...I don't know.
Mats, what's happening in Toronto with the GM situation?
Eh...I don't know.
Mats, looking back to the TD. Would you like to be playing for the Wings now?
Er...I don't know.
Mats, can you say anything other than, " I don't know"?
Er...Jag vet inte.

Ha! He was fired and job was taken by a co-GM system that did a better job than he did. He was the guy w/ experience. A fired GM is not who you want to hire. If a GM is that important you need to go out and ask teams for permission to talk to their current GMs and see who will allow it. Toronto needs to hold off.

looks like one of these teams will have to strongarm to get armstrong!

The Laffs screwed up again. I'm only too happy to have washed my hands of those morons.
