Jose Theodore wants to continue his career resurgence in Colorado, and it appears the feeling is mutual. Theodore's agent said Wednesday he expects to talk with Avalanche general manager Francois Giguere soon about a new contract for the 31-year- old goalie, who can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

A healthy Jose Theodore can still be a top 5 goalie in the NHL. He's been having all sorts of injuries hampering him. Didn't he have a groin or hip injury that he needed an operation for? That will for sure take its toll on a butterfly netminder.. Anyway, if he can just find a way to play more consistent and be healthy, he's a great goalie.

I just hope they don't give him another whopping contract - he should be willing to sign for less on this contract, considering he only lived up to his expiring contract for one out of the 4 years! He breaks even in the long run - get paid too much for pisspoor performance, then, get paid slightly under market for above average performance! What do you think is the likelihood of that? haha

A top 5 goalie Dashiva!
Are you kidding me?
Hopefully Jose's problems are behind him and he continues to remain steady at a fair market price.

I just hope his hairs okay.

LOL @ top 5 goalie in NHL. LOL. Maybe top 5 in his division, I'll give him that.

I personally think they should have stuck with Budaj in net this season.

A healthy Theodore and .... an interested Theodore can be a very good goalie. It's just that for so long he didn't look interested in hockey, it makes you wonder what you'll get.

Theodore is a great guy to have...on the bench in case your top guy gets hurt. He can cover for a good while, but top 5 or even top 15?
C'mon, let's try to stay within the realm of reality for awhile?

This is an awful waste on a second tier goalie

May 30, 2008  01:10 PM ET

Pretty big waste of a thread too I might add.

May 30, 2008  03:35 PM ET

I hope he stays. Personally, I think that Budaj is the guy for the Avs, but it doesn't hurt to have Jose if he plays like he did in the last half of this season. He was one of the best in the league.

MESSAGAE TO ALL AVALANCHE FANS: after his stellar play off performance against us, we hear in detroit would also like to see theodore stay! LOL!!

Dang wingsfan#1, is the recession hurting your education programs bad enough that they can't even teach you the difference between "here" and "hear"? And don't worry about the Avs. I hear Claude Lemieux is coming out of retirement for one more crack with our boys next season.

You're No Huet, Jose!

wtnelson: hahahahaha, i deserve it!, sorry about the mis-spell!

May 30, 2008  07:16 PM ET

......i guess if you can dish it out, ya gotta be able to take it!, finally, one for you guys! lol

May 31, 2008  11:06 AM ET

Yes!!! The Wings would love to see him stay too. Also, it would be great to see Claude the Turtle come back. Then ole #25 from the Wings can retire him again.
