A 26-year old who could have quite literally gotten away with murder sends someone a letter hoping the one person who saw him commit the crime in question doesn't say anything but neglected to tell the letter receiver to destroy the letter.

Have to take your word for it. Heck I've probably been through it when I travelled around MA back in the late 80s. Obviously it didn't leave a great impression on me.
