Agent: Fedorov seeks Caps return

The agent for Washington Capitals center Sergei Fedorov said there is interest from the 38-year-old Russian about returning to the team, and he hopes to speak with club officials about a new contract next week. Fedorov was acquired by the Caps from Columbus at the trade deadline, and he became an important part of the team's incredible season-ending run to a division title and postseason berth. The six-time All-Star and league MVP in 1994 found new life with Bruce Boudreau's aggressive approach after nearly two years in a defense-first system with the Blue Jackets. He will become an unrestricted free agent July 1 if a deal is not reached by then.

Federov can be a key ingredient to the Caps this coming season. Great player with experience and fantastic mentor for O.V. & the other young and rising stars this team is assembling.
I'm certain he is enjoying playing for Boudreau and a real contender. This Team should finish up pretty high in the standings in 2008-09.

All true, Baun-ded - he can be very useful to this team unless he gets another $6mln contract...

Fedorov is considered the best Russian player to ever play in NHL. He looks happy playing in Washington with Semin and Ovechkin. He likes Huet as all Russian love frenchmen. He is Mr. Russian Experience. Please give the contract to this future hall of famer

I wonder if Fedorov would like to buy my old Red Wing Jersey. It has (Anna)Kournikova's name on the back when they were married and she used to come to the Joe.

Federov would be awesome, but Huet and Green would be my top 2 concerns if I was george McPhee

They will get them all signed in my opinion htownhockeyguy.

He did good with Ovechkin. He should stay.

Fedorov has said he wants to play with his brother in Russia sometime, right? I guess then he'll settle to play in Washington for about 2 years, 2 million per, then finish his hockey career in Russia.
