The California attorney general's office is investigating whether funds from a sickle cell anemia charity were illegally used to pay for benefits to former USC basketball player O.J. Mayo, a state Department of Justice special agent said Friday. Special agent Danny Kim in Los Angeles said he is looking into whether "any funds or credit cards were taken or used under the foundation's name and used for other purposes." Mayo said he had no knowledge of the charity or any possible misuse of its credit card.

Yes OJ. Just keep doing what you are doing. The I go to USC but i " don't know nothing" is your best defense. The credit card thing, you had no idea....You figured it was just another booster thing..

Charity begins at home. So, check Mayo's home just like Reggie's!

yeah yeah yeah ... all that support money and goods and services during and since high school just appeared magically with no strings and no questions ... I too believe in the tooth fairy, but my strength was math, not basketball, so guess what ... nothing but an occasional quarter per lost tooth and no 'runners' for me

All I can say to Pete (Bush) and Tim (OJ) is,.. I hope it was worth it...

Why do I get the feeling that this guy is going to be a bust in the NBA?

At this point, he's more likely to be Maurice Clarett's cellmate than he is to make the HOF.

Let's not get carried away here. Mayo didn't kill anyone (as far as we know) so it's not likely he's going to jail. He'll probably get tacked with a fine and probation if he get's nailed for fraud.

there's just too much money in sports these days...WAY too much for it to ever be clean again

"He'll probably get tacked with a fine and probation if he get's nailed for fraud."

I'm not picking on Mayo but when the circustances referenced above are considered an "optmistic" outcome the bar has really been lowered. What a cesspool college sports has become.

USC is dirtier than Jenna Jamison's ****

I honestly don't care that he got extra $ whil;e in college.....it really doesn't bother me- It's not like he was throwing games

My point is though- if the NBA wants to keep its image on the upswing......it needs to go the NFL route and start suspending these kids - ala NFL
Maybe even make them ineligible for the draft......

You just know that when ever their is a question in the future weather or not a kid has a questionable source of money that, he/she will be asked; "You got Mayo?"

Nice to know the kid is contributing to our society even before he enters the NBA.
