Grossman, Orton splitting reps

07:58 AM ET 06.01 | Rex Grossman has stayed relatively quiet since signing a one-year deal this off-season. He brushes off splitting practice reps with Kyle Orton, considering Grossman is going into his sixth year in this system. As for how the quarterbacks performed Saturday, it was pretty much a tie: evenly ugly. Shortly after Grossman threw interceptions to Alex Brown and Hunter Hillenmeyer on the same series of plays, Hillenmeyer and Jamar Williams picked off Orton on consecutive plays.

You have to wonder why the front office seemingly made no attempt to upgrade at the QB spot. Even the Buc cast offs are better than these guys. Maybe that is the plan, see who gets let go this summer and sign them.

Bruce Gradkowski > Rex.

Sox Sider ...True, but that team had great defense. This Bears team gave up over 30 points five times and folded down the stretch late in games ( ie. vs. the Giants).

The Bears need to sign Bruce Gradkowski. He would be the man.

Well, they're both terrible, but I'd give Orton the nod on the condition that he grow the neckbeard out again once cold weather hits.

June 1, 2008  01:41 PM ET

bears should bring Culpepper in for a tryout.

June 1, 2008  01:57 PM ET

I don't get the Bears M.O.? Every year its a QB issue and a player or 2 from the vaunted D wanting to be payed his worth...

June 1, 2008  01:59 PM ET

Letting these two split reps is STILL a waste of time.....when I look into these guys eyes (from a television perspective) I see two very dim bulbs. I wouldn't hire these guys to dry cars at the local car wash--CANNOT see them leading any team any where. Not cut out for NFL QB position.
