The conclusions of the NBA conference finals have afforded the Suns a chance to have second interviews with Detroit Pistons lead assistant coach Terry Porter and a first visit with San Antonio Spurs lead assistant Mike Budenholzer this week. Porter is coming to Phoenix early this week. Suns General Manager Steve Kerr and Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin met with Porter in Detroit on May 15, when the Pistons had a break between playoff rounds.

Whoever gets this job better have a Phd in psychology, and bring a couple of extra balls to the game.

This search is going to go on...and on...and on...

Hmm, maybe they should have kept what they had until they had a guaranteed fill, stupid move STEVE

June 2, 2008  10:06 AM ET

I think Kerr is trying to lock up the 8th seed in the playoffs next season

June 2, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Let's hope that Kerr doesn't screw Phoenix up than he already has. Hire a worth while coach, please.

June 2, 2008  10:19 AM ET

Wouldnt that be something if PHX tanked this next season

June 2, 2008  11:51 AM ET

From the look at the amount of posts on this subject, it looks like nobody cares about the Suns anymore! So just like the Phoenix Suns, I'm outta here!

June 2, 2008  02:38 PM ET

the suns have set..they'll be a first round team in the coming years..

June 2, 2008  02:55 PM ET

I doubt they even make the playoffs

June 2, 2008  04:00 PM ET

Wow, one day you're the toast of the West and one Robert Horry hipcheck later you have no coach, an old overrated Shaquille and his big contract along with a first-round exit where Tim Duncan, the true dominant big man of this generation, not Shaq, hits a game winning tying 3 on you.

Just plain stinks.

I am starting to hate the Phoenix Suns because of their front office. Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, Luol Deng, Kurt Thomas, James Posey, Eddie House, etc. They lost them all. I realize they couldn't possibly keep them all, but they didn't keep one of them! They even lost D'Antoni. Nash isn't getting any younger. I am doubting what the front office is thinking at this point. Sarver and Kerr are a joke. I miss Colangelo. haha

My advice is to hire Avery Johnson.

June 2, 2008  04:33 PM ET

sucks for Avery,
Now he doesnt have a Job at all next season

June 2, 2008  04:39 PM ET

My guess is Budenholzer because Kerr is familiar with him from his days in San Antonio.

However, it sucks that Avery Johnson is probably going to be without a job next season. He doesn't deserve that.

June 2, 2008  11:52 PM ET

avery will have a job next season with those in season firing of coaches , i'm sure he'd be picked up

If Flip Saunders is gone, it makes sense for the Suns to hire Saunders and also bring in Porter as an assistant.
Saunders and Porter have already worked together, and the Suns can groom Porter into a possible candidate for a future head coach.
