Niners, Raiders to move to Los Angeles?

The City of Industry, on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, could be Plan D for the 49ers, perhaps for the Raiders when their lease expires in 2010 -- or for any NFL team wanting to move into the second-largest population center of the United States. All Ed Roski asks before breaking ground is for a current NFL team to agree to move into his $800 million baby. Who might that be? Mostly you hear talk of San Diego or Minnesota, but other teams might want to take up Roski on his offer because of the financial ramifications. Those franchises include Jacksonville, New Orleans, Buffalo and, some say, St. Louis. Or one of the two Bay Area teams.

How many shots at a team should LA get? The stadium is a great lure in the short-term, but in the long run, can the area truly support a team in a lasting way?

San Diego? No way. Buffalo maybe, with their woes.

"If you build it, he will come" doesn't work in football?

June 2, 2008  08:31 AM ET

Why? How many times must LA prove that it doesn't have the interest in the NFL?

June 2, 2008  08:40 AM ET

Buffalo is much more likely to end up in Toronto than LA.

Every team in the NFL that thinks it's got a "bad" stadium deal is going to threaten to move to LA so that they can extort a Billion-Dollar-Shrine out of the taxpayers in their current city.

June 2, 2008  08:54 AM ET

does anyone on LA care?

June 2, 2008  08:57 AM ET

No one in LA cares; if a team signs a lease, then tell us about it. Right now, not only does LA not care, America does not care.

June 2, 2008  09:01 AM ET

Niners need to stay in San Fran, there is a lot of history behind that team and city. No one really care about Oakland so they can go where ever they want too. The Raiders will be the same ole Raiders where ever they end up.

June 2, 2008  09:02 AM ET

LA and most of southern California should simply be ceded to Mexico so we can be done with it. Then they can turn that stadium into a Bull Fighting arena so they can draw in a real fan base. Otherwise, its a waste of time even discussing the matter.

New Orleans would be my bet but big money and a big city open many doors no matter how many chances you have had.. They will have team..

June 2, 2008  09:13 AM ET

retarded

June 2, 2008  09:18 AM ET

You know, it just occurred to me.

We'd all be safe and warm if we were in LA.

June 2, 2008  09:20 AM ET

Historically one of the original NFL teams from the start, so it???s highly unlikely as well as dumb to relocate the 49ers, they remain the bay area darlings, tourist attractions for the city by the bay, L.A. has Hollywood, had a chance with the Rams, then never supported the Raider when they were there, fickle fans, That???s 2 blown opportunities.
Better L.A. stay on the glamour side At least they still have MLB???s Dodgers, and NBA Lakers, stick to Hollywood L.A.

June 2, 2008  09:21 AM ET

A big city with big bucks wanting the NFL??!! I am not sure why it did not work before but money will bring someone who wants a fresh start in a nice facility..

I am not usre why you feel that is retarded..

June 2, 2008  09:22 AM ET

Sure...

June 2, 2008  09:34 AM ET

Texas is big enough for another NFL team - move to San Antonio.

June 2, 2008  09:36 AM ET

In this day and age, even LA would sell out every game before the start of the season. That's how big the NFL has gotten since it was last in LA. This is inevitable. But who really cares?

I agreee shrute

Who needs the NFL when you have USC?
