The Giants reportedly have signed veteran defensive end Renaldo Wynn. Wynn, 33, was taken with the 21st overall pick in 1997 by Tom Coughlin's Jaguars. The Notre Dame product had five sacks in 2001, then signed with Washington, where he played for five seasons. He had 3-1/2 sacks last season for the Saints. Wynn, who battled a toe injury last season, worked out for the Giants on May 14.

Looks like the G-men got a taste of success & want more.

Giants are still looking at a 9-7 season, at best...

journeyman to replace strahan?

June 2, 2008  09:10 AM ET

You show your lack of knowledge about the Giants when you think a 34 year old guy is the replacement for Strahan. Justin Tuck is already signed and ready to go. Wynn is just a backup.

June 2, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Looks like they're getting ready for Strahan to retire. Either way, if Strahan retires, it's been great, if he stays it will be great. I really believe in my heart that the Giants have a team to go to the playoffs again. I am not going to be arogant and say repeat, but they have a better chance than the haters would like to give them. LETS GO BIG BLUE

a veteran DE that can still shed TE blocks and disrupt the run, sure tackler but not much foot speed. looks to be in rotation to keep pass rushers fresh into the 4th qt

Former Skin..I hope they know that the disgruntled legion thinks he will have a probowl season.

June 2, 2008  10:54 AM ET

i agree.....good backup. the league can get ready for some more of the same with the Giants defensive front.......they're gonna continue to cause problems and have opposing quaterbacks yelling at their teammates to block. i love it!!

June 2, 2008  11:21 AM ET

I dont think the Giants will win the division, Cowboys are loaded, but we didn't need to win the division last year either. Great backup that can still play, I like the pickup.

The Giants sign Renaldo Wynn... Who cares! This guy has been a non factor for a few seasons and he is supposed to repalce a Hall of Fame player if he decides to retire? Great! Good luck on making the playoffs next season with Renaldo Wynn coming of the edge. I bet plenty of tackles are losing sleep over this one.

How come people who have no idea about anyting regarding football continue to post on these threads? Clearly, Wynn is going to be a backup even if Strahan retires. You have Osi and Tuck who will be the starters and then Wynn will be alternated in and out just like they did last year. Get a clue, read the post b/c it says nothing about replacing Strahan, and then provide your intellect. I have no problem listening to what people have to say, but know what you're talking about first.

My supernatural sources have revealed unto me that the unspoken blessing of this covenant between player and team is his knowledge of the defensive approach of the Adversary---or the Redskins. He brings the advantage G-women every time they play.

Amen.
