Why Giants signed DE Wynn

Renaldo Wynn, who spent last season with the Saints and the previous five with the Redskins, might have big shoes to fill if Michael Strahan retires. Michael Strahan still hasn't announced whether he'll be playing in 2008, but now the Giants are prepared in case he doesn't play. The Super Bowl champs signed veteran Renaldo Wynn Monday to bolster their uncertain defensive line. And the Giants made it clear that the signing of the 11-year veteran, who will be 34 when the season starts, is an insurance policy in case Strahan retires.

OK, who next?

June 4, 2008  10:20 AM ET

I'm not a GIANTS fan at all, but I do like Strahan... I hope he doesn't retire, he is a good guy to watch in the NFL with a classic smile that rocks!

June 6, 2008  10:18 AM ET

Strahan needs the money. He made his chess move and the Giants countered by signing Wynn. He's coming back but he wants to squeeze a little more money out of them.

I think now that Mike is retiring, that the Giants should make a move with the Miami to get Jason Taylor and a mid level draft pick for Jeremy Shockey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
