Bulls' Paxson to Notre Dame?
WNDU is listing 10 people with Notre Dame ties who might be considered for the Notre Dame athletic director job. Contacted today, John Paxson said any speculation he might be headed to South Bend is unfounded. The site is specific in saying it was mere speculation. The problem is the Bulls are dragging their feet on hiring Doug Collins. One source told me Jerry Reinsdorf is taking his time just because he wants to make the right call on Collins. If he ultimately gets his man, it's not significant. But why does he need so much time? He knows Collins better than any other candidate. Why the foot dragging? Stay tuned.

OK, so Paxson goes to ND, the Bulls try for Saunders and fail, Collins is pissed and refuses to take the job when he is offered it again, and Reinsdorf fills in as interim coach for next year. What's not to like? :^)
Jeez, why is this team so dysfunctional? Was the Jordan era a fluke? Are the Bulls truly destined to be the Washington Generals of the NBA for the rest of MY life?
Come on guys, do something right!!!!

That's quite the winning combo the fightless Irish are assembling > Jabba the hut geniusing his way to 5 wins a season and then to add the Brilliance of the guy who misled the bulls to 33 wins and no playoff berth and no Kobe, and no Garnett...Man how can this combo not challenge Duke for the worse D1 football program in the country? I know it's a lofty goal but I think Jabba and Paxson ca get it done!

I don't know. With Duke hiring ND's former AD, it seems like they're tryin' to stay in the hunt for worst D1 program, should be interesting...stay tuned.
Still, ND remains the most hated team, no challenge there.

The Bulls mangement sucked during the Jordan years as well; but becuase of Jordan, Scotty, Phil, Rodman and six rings we overlooked how much the two Jerrys sucked

The Bulls management was good enough or lucky enough to have unprecedented success in the 90's. Let's not kid ourselves, though, Michael was a once in a lifetime phenomenon that we may never see the likes of again. So, a modicum of common sense in the upcoming draft would serve them well. As for John Paxson, I wish him luck whatever he decides to do, but in my opinion, he and Reinsdorf should hire Doug Collins and consider his advice on the draft. Heck, I don't think the Bulls did right by Collins the first time, maybe they'll make good on a second chance.

Jerry Krause was an execrable man, but a decent GM Paxson's a nice guy, but a not good GM. This would be too good to be true for the Bulls. Paxson, with his severe overthinking (e.g., Gasol deal, etc.), should move on NOW.

"why are the bull doing reruns with a coach who not all that good"
because that's what sports, politics, and everything else in the US until recently has been about - business as usual, go with the status quo, don't change anything, need that experience, blah blah blah.
It seems now people are starting to like fresh ideas, so look for the Bulls to maybe get a coach that is "unproven" and "inexperienced" but might have good ideas.
