Another Terp wants transfer

Less than two weeks after junior-college transfer Tyree Evans asked for his release, Maryland granted another potential college basketball star a similar request yesterday. Gus Gilchrist, a talented 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward who, like Evans, was expected to play a major role next season, asked for his release so he could possibly play immediately at another school outside the Atlantic Coast Conference. Because of ACC rules, Gilchrist had to sit out the first semester of games because he had initially signed to play at Virginia Tech. The loss of Gilchrist leaves a giant hole in the frontcourt for the Terps, who have only nine players on scholarship and a possible 10th player, top recruit Sean Mosley, still waiting to be accepted by the admissions office.

Gary better start recruiting harder in the DC Metro Area or his arse will be out of a job within two years. How does he let Austin Freeman, Delonte West, Michael Beasley, Jeff Green, Kevin Durant, Donte Green, Carmelo Anthony (hell, need I mention more) all slip away? And these were just RECENT players from our great state of Maryland.

Go Hoyas! ;)

Gary is getting outhustled in his own back yard. Didn't Texas A & M just get a kid from DeMatha yesterday?

In any case if G. Williams doesn't step up he may be forced to step out. Even if he is an institution the call for change still occurs.

no doubt......what is going in college park????? tighten it up gary. in fairness we don't know the stories behind these transfers but gary's recruiting has definitely slipped since their championship run........maybe it is time for change????

Gary does some of the laziest recruiting in the nation. Needs to spend a little less time at Dewey Beach.

J. Hova and Al -

My thoughts exactly. And to be frank, I didn't think he was all that great a hire for the school to begin with, despite his success.

All that regional basketball richness and he's getting his ace kicked.

If they want tobe in the running for anything ACC, NCAA or anything pertaining to basketball! They need to do a lot better recruiting! Why can't they hold on to these so called recruits! Either they want to come here or do not waste my time!
