Eagles boycotting minicamp

Lito Sheppard's absence was a clear message that he's less than thrilled with his contract and his overall situation, but neither he nor his agent, Lamont Smith, have ever publicly stated their case. That streak remained intact when neither Sheppard nor Smith returned a phone call. Eagles coach Andy Reid said he had been warned by Smith that Sheppard would not be attending this camp. He received the same warning from Scott Young's agent, Jeff Courtney, but still seemed miffed about the decision of his fourth-year guard from Brigham Young. Reid said he didn't know why the second-string guard wasn't in attendance. Young, a fifth-round draft choice in 2005, is entering the final year of his contract and is scheduled to be paid $520,000 this season. After playing in 12 games in 2006, he dressed for just one game last season. If his intent is to get released, he may have helped his cause.

I'm boycotting work as well even though I am under contract. They gave some new guy my stapler. Maybe I will be released or traded to a company that will give me a raise.

If only these guys had to deal with the real world.....that'd be hilarious.

June 4, 2008  09:34 AM ET

"They gave some new guy my stapler."

Have you seen my stapler?

June 4, 2008  09:51 AM ET

This is getting to be ridiculous! Another boycotter? Didn't he or his agent read the bl*oody contract before he signed it? Didn't he know what was in it?

I hope the NFL brass steps in and puts an end to this nonsense by fining heavily every jerk who defaults on his contract and desn't allow them to play unless they agree to fulfill the terms they agreed to!

Cry me a river, Lito Sheppard!

Fugettabouit!!! Atlanta just paid half a billion dollars for their QB who was a picked 3rd overall. What do you think that is going to up the rate of a 1st overall QB pick??

June 4, 2008  10:23 AM ET

This is another non story. Trying to make noise where there is none.

June 4, 2008  11:01 AM ET

Weapon X, these self deluded dudes don't know what planet "real world" is on!

June 4, 2008  11:53 AM ET

It's a voluntary minicamp....He doesn't have to be there....Oh well....

If my job could afford to pay me HALF the money he's making....for ONLY 18-22 weeks....I'd be one happy camper....

Stop whining about money and just play some damn ball...

June 4, 2008  12:13 PM ET

Stapler??? I thought it was a hole puncher....go figure.

June 4, 2008  01:37 PM ET

Combo stapler/hole puncher hybrid.

June 4, 2008  01:43 PM ET

Hi, my name is Scott Young, and I'm not really holding out. No one noticed I was there, so I stopped going.

June 4, 2008  05:19 PM ET

One Game? He dressed for one game and he's skipping the workout because he's obviously overworked and underpaid. I can now see why the owners want a new CBA!

June 4, 2008  06:20 PM ET

WHO THE **** CARES ANYMORE !!!

June 4, 2008  06:22 PM ET

Don't release these jerks, make them ride the bench or sit out the entire season. Were the 85 Bears the only team ever to have the balls to let players sit?

June 4, 2008  09:50 PM ET

Lito is not good enough to pull this kind of c rap. Let him sit.
