Williams: No problem with Lions deal
Roy Williams took a knee next to chief operating officer Tom Lewand and assistant general manager Martin Mayhew at Lions practice Wednesday. They chatted amicably. Were they talking about a contract extension? "Yeah, right," Williams said, laughing. Did Williams bring up the three-year, $34-million deal Terrell Owens just signed with Dallas? "No." Not even in jest? "No." But the Lions have not approached him about an extension, and he missed the Lions' organized team activities last week and Monday. The OTAs are voluntary according to the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and NFL Players Association. Williams said his absences had nothing to do with his contract situation.

This is what someone does when they want out. If $34 million isn't going to keep him in Detroit, nothing is. Trade him while you can still get some value for him.

I've always felt that he was being held back by playing for the Lions. But isn't that the same for any player with talent that plays there?I think he's smart by not making a fuss over a deal like others have recently and it may pave a way out for him.

If he wants out do it differently than T.O. in Philly or Ocho Stinko in Cincy. At least other teams will be more open to offering you a big $$$ to play, without the "stench" associated with other certain loud mouthed players.

There's a place on the star, waiting for him. He will look great lining up opposite T.O. for three seasons.

They should throw a deal like the one that Fitzgerald got in Arizona. 4 years and $40 million is a steal for a player of his age.

They can't have two high paid WR's? Colts do/did. Who else on the Lions roster is worth big $$'s? Sad organization

He needs a line to help out the QB, because Kitna can pass for 4,000 yards easy with the recievers that he has around him. Williams might feel a little like Holt- give it your all and still come up short!

Great player that like Herman Moore, Barry Sanders, Robert Porcher, Chris Speilman and so many before him will never get a ring with this team. They have the talent, they've always had talent: It is the organization. If Jerry Jones owned the Lions, I can't imagine what might have been. Roy Warrants big money but the Lions probably won't pay up. I was surprised he was back for another year.
