By the end of next week, the Suns are expecting to be able to fill in the blank. Speaking at length for the first time since the coaching search began May 12, Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said interviews are "probably completed." The finalists are believed to be Detroit Pistons assistant Terry Porter, Houston Rockets lead assistant Elston Turner and Utah Jazz assistant Tyrone Corbin, with insiders believing Kerr is leaning toward Porter.

Porter seems like a no nosense guy but I wonder how his X's and O's are.

hmm what exactly had Porter accomplished as a coach that Kings are impressed?? Or is it just the "no one else available" syndrome.

Why go for Detroit's assistant coach when you can get their head coach?
Flip Saunders has now become available.
Get Saunders as head coach, and bring in Porter as his assistant - or vice versa?

Flip is a poor mans version of D'Antoni. The Suns need someone to implement a defense.

Terry Porter WILL get the job done. Shaq is going to like this guy.

Choices for a good coach is becoming scarce. I can't believe Avery Johnson is not even mentioned. Kerr has connections w/ Avery. They won championship together and it seems that the Suns already has all the peaces except for the coach. Porter like Avery is a point guard so he won't have problems w/ the X and O's. His problem is going to be defense. Just hope he learned from Detroit. But Porter had some head coaching experience and he didn't do well in Bucks land.

i agree.....that defense is needed in PHX and should hire the next coach with that in mind(avery). i mean c'mon they got the one of the most freakish physical specimens to ever play basketball to fill up the paint and amare who could be even more of a defensive beast if only he and his team had that mentality. granted the big fella is no where near his old self but he still remains a big time presence.

I am glad that Tyron Corbin will be staying in Utah in this situation.

Avery's communication problems must be more serious, or more blown out of proportion, than we think.

He's starting not to even get nibbles. It seems that he and Saunders both have the "player rebellion" tag pulling them down. It's hard to attrack superstars if they think the coach is an idiot.

It think that's why Porter and Curry have moved to the head of the class.

as a Bucks fan, I will say time and again how much the Bucks screwed up letting Terry Porter go. I really hope he gets this opportunity. The Bucks were a lot of fun to watch when he was their coach. It was not his fault TJ Ford went down and taking the team with him. Before TJ went down, the bucks were one of the hottest teams in the NBA. It's unfortunate that Terry was the one held responsible. Anybody who paid attention to the Bucks during his very short tenure knows what I'm saying, that he got the shaft, and he is damn good coach.

Suns leaning towards Porter...and Porter leaning like a cholo.
