Ortiz injury snags home run derby
David Ortiz's wrist injury is forcing Major League Baseball to look at alternatives to him trying to hit a home run to a specific area of Yankee Stadium designated by a fan at the Home Run Derby on the night before the All-Star Game. An option would be to let all eight players in the Home Run Derby have fans call their shots from home plate in the inaugural promotion, which is part of the State Farm insurance company's derby sponsorship. State Farm's Web site is still exhorting fans to enter its contest to "tell David Ortiz where to hit one at the derby." The winner gets a trip to New York and will stand at home plate and "call Big Papi's shot."
