Brentwood Academy lineman Alex Bullard wants to be in South Bend when Notre Dame returns to football prominence. Bullard, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive guard, will announce his commitment to play football for the Irish at 10 a.m. today at BA. He selected Notre Dame over Tennessee and Michigan, who were next in line on his list of 21 scholarship offers.

"wants to be in South Bend when ND returns to football prominence"

Uh - ok.

June 6, 2008  08:27 AM ET

From the photo, it appears Alex is already in Charlie Weis' dog house when he took the last piece of bacon from the buffet.

Welcome Mr. Bullard & Mr. Fox.(6'4" 218 LB/S)

In my neighborhood big don't spell bad...as long as he is tough and ready to get after it..

June 6, 2008  10:24 AM ET

Wow, Fannation is actually ahead of the curve on this story since he hasn't even announced it yet! Usually this site wait 3 days to publish a story after it happens.

Anyways, good get for the Domers in stealing a kid out from underneath TN.

June 6, 2008  10:30 AM ET

Charlie has proven that he can get these kids. Now he has to prove that he can coach them.

June 6, 2008  10:50 AM ET

Gariboy,

Weis made the right decision to let other more skilled coaches do the coaching than him. The only thing Weis is good at is selling ND to recruits and illegally taping other teams.

June 6, 2008  11:02 AM ET

ND always recruits well. The fact still remains that they haven't won a bowl game since 1995 and Weis is over hyped until proven otherwise.

June 6, 2008  11:06 AM ET

Just curious The Warden...If Weis is denied credit for what he accomplished at New England (because of the illegal taping) does that not also tarnish what Tom Brady accomplished? Even an average NFL quarterback can execute plays if they know what defense they are facing. Personally I think to deny either one of them their success is ludicrous.

June 6, 2008  11:30 AM ET

Gariboy, it tarnishes New England as a whole so yes it would tarnish Brady's accomplishments. But the issue is that it was something done by many NFL teams. New England just got caught. Brady is still a very good QB regardless but it does cast an unflattering shadow on New England.

Just because I am a Michigan fan doesn't mean I lack common sense like many other homer fans of other teams.

June 6, 2008  11:33 AM ET

He chose the right school. Brentwood Academy is a great school academically. His potential there will best be employed at Notre Dame. I still hate to see him leave the state of Tennessee though.

June 6, 2008  11:34 AM ET

Well said Warden!

June 6, 2008  11:49 AM ET

Weis sure can reel them in.

Charley sez: "I am doing my job. Somebody brrrrrraaaaatttttt me!"

June 6, 2008  12:46 PM ET

6'4" 275 that is a big boy
whatta think ole Charlie is
5'11" 275 ?

June 6, 2008  01:17 PM ET

Crap, I really wish they would get some better pictures of Charlie...these are really indefensible. Maybe there aren't any goods ones...wait, I know... its a conspiracy...somebody doesn't LIKE Charlie...yeah that's it! He really isn't fat...its just the way he's photographed! Geez, now I feel a lot better since I understand it all.

June 6, 2008  01:37 PM ET

Quick Thick and Nasty. The new formula for College O-linemen. Can you say "hurry-up offence, scripted plays and throwing all over the lot"? Me thinks the fox (Weis) will be back to his multiple-multiple plays from same sets, but only when the big guy's upfront protect the QB..No more road graders, grind it out stuff.....More like a bunch of Farari's, making the plays then doing it again and again and again.....Let's see....

June 6, 2008  01:49 PM ET

I bet Charlie weighs more than 275

June 6, 2008  02:05 PM ET

Who cares ND is still going to suck, they have been getting "big recr." for how many years now, and believe me charlie has know idea how to teach these players X & O's in college ball, and believe me pro coach's dont belong in college football.

June 6, 2008  02:08 PM ET

Notre Dame will return to prominence on the 12th......of NEVER.
