A flurry of bad blood - a heated argument between Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis, plus a real brawl between Coco Crisp and a bunch of Rays - and bad-luck episodes - injuries to Jacoby Ellsbury and Ramirez - easily overshadowed the actual baseball game, which the Red Sox won, 7-1, completing a sweep of the Rays and extending their lead in the AL East to 1 games.

Pretty good fight I must say...Coco got upended and dropped by half the Rays bench. Good week not to have the Rays as your pitching staff in Fantasy League!!!

The whole thing was sad... seeing the player take cheap shots at Coco on the ground got my blood going... the last thing we needed was injuries from a brawl.

they should let ball players go at for a little bit like in hockey. just leave it up to the two guys for a minute or two. why not???

June 6, 2008  10:32 AM ET

Those Rays are not making a lot of friends on their way up the division.

In baseball, sometimes you just have to pull hair and scratch everything that moves to let people know you mean business....

They never have. There's always some chit going on between them and either the RSox or Yanks.

I bet Coco would have beat Shields' ass.

You mean he could have pulled his ass hair, right?

June 6, 2008  10:41 AM ET

Yea I think the Rays' 40 man roster made sure that didn't happen.

Field Marshall Sunny Day | 06/06/08, 10:38 AM

Yea, that "fight" looked like some of the pile ups at the Wizard of Oz post production party...

June 6, 2008  10:43 AM ET

Good...good...destroy yourselves....

June 6, 2008  10:43 AM ET

Yes a real fight thread!!!!! Wow Shields looks pissed. He has anger in his eyes baby.

June 6, 2008  10:44 AM ET
