Will Bonds DH for Boston?

Now batting for the Red Sox ... Barry Bonds. A DH replacement for injured David Ortiz? Bonds once called Boston a racist city, but he had a different take when his Giants visited Fenway last year. "Beautiful city," he said. Plus, his kid, Nikolai, attended a nearby boarding school, Valley View School in North Brookfield, Mass. Outside a San Francisco courthouse after Friday's not-guilty plea to perjury charges, Bonds had no comment.

Boston has become known as the Cheating Capital of America. So if Bonds plays for the Red Sucks, it wouldn't surprise me.

He better not play for the Sox or I wil lose tons of respect for the team

June 8, 2008  08:57 AM ET

He will ruin the clubhouse aphmosphere as well

Hey "thepatriotscheated", You an ignorant fool. First of all, the Patriots don't reside in Boston, second no other Boston team is involve in any scandals. So keep your dumbass comments to yourself you jealous pr*ck.

Barry Bonds is one of the greatest players of all time. I couldn't care less if he did steroids or not. He would be an asset to any team. The only thing wrong with the 08 season is no Barry. I think he would be a perfect fit for the Blue Jays, but I will watch him play for any team even the sox. People that talk badly about Barry are hypocrits. You all want to cast stones like you're perfect.

Well if the Sox pick him up i will have to start cheering for the Yankees whenever they play each other. The guy is a BLIGHT on Baseball!

June 8, 2008  09:57 AM ET

He's an on-base machine. One season. He can't be that much trouble. I can't believe sox fans would be so much against him. I can understand not wanting him long term, but as a hired gun.....take him.

Good point DOYOULIKEBASEBALL, of course these pages are called Truth and Rumors so its probably a rumor.

Listen: A "racist city" will turn into "The Place I Hope to Retire", as long as they can supply you with a paycheck. I don't think the government's unemployment system covers the likes of Barry Bonds.

June 8, 2008  10:04 AM ET

Yea. probably not true. I may be his only remaining fan. So I get excited at the chance to see him return. I pray Toronto signs him, but I am not getting my hopes up.

IMO, there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that the Red Sox even consider Bonds., thankfully.

I love it when people try to use the "People that talk badly about Barry are hypocrits. You all want to cast stones like you're perfect" as some sort of justification... BWAHAHAHA!

Barry? Is that you?

Barry is a big mouth jerk who would be a clubhouse cancer for a team that usually has great chemistry. Regardless of your thoughts on steroids, he's not a team player. Nobody wants him.

June 8, 2008  10:25 AM ET

He's as old as their stadium

June 8, 2008  10:31 AM ET

I think Barry might be a distraction in the clubhouse, both with his attitude & legal issue. Don't get him Boston!
