Shockey points finger at Giants

Jeremy Shockey does not sound like a happy camper. And the disgruntled tight end might not make it to the Giants' minicamp on Wednesday. Making his first public comments since breaking his leg last December, a defensive Shockey pointed the finger at the Giants for all the offseason speculation about his future and reported unhappiness. And, perhaps indicating a rift with the only pro team he has ever played for, Shockey left the question of whether he would attend the mandatory minicamp up in the air. "Unlike the Giants, I am going to be quiet. They have released multiple things about myself, and if you look back into the media (reports), there is always a source. Well, I would like to know who the source is. I haven't said one negative thing towards the Giants in the newspapers," he said.

KPKahder -OK ? Who Did It ?
LMAO. No one ever said he was a deep thinker...But a very good TE.

June 8, 2008  09:10 AM ET

Who let Jeremy out without his handler?

June 8, 2008  09:11 AM ET

Wasn't there a Giants fan on here claiming that there woudn't be any discord in the Giants camp, that this kind of thing only happens to the Cowboys?

June 8, 2008  09:15 AM ET

talented guy-
but not a good guy

Never comes to off-seaon workouts, berets the QB..........they won without him

I would try and get ANYTHING for him.....if not CUT HIM....send a message that attitude won't be tolerated

June 8, 2008  09:27 AM ET

Good thing you aren't a GM, jgb.

And when has Shockey showed up for camp not in shape?

Oh, and it's berates, unless you think he makes Eli wear a beret under his helmet.

June 8, 2008  10:23 AM ET

He's not going to play in the mini-camp anyway.

Maybe he should go talk to his "friends" that keep acting as his mouthpiece.

Just another unhappy Drew Rosenhaus customer whose team holds all the trump cards.

June 8, 2008  10:32 AM ET

I think he really wanted play in New Orleans.

June 8, 2008  10:36 AM ET

What have the giants said ? except to admit, that teams have made offers for him. Shockey needs to put the blame for all the negetive words toward him where it belongs, The media !
The real reason for shockeys misplaced angst is a dissatisfaction with his contract which pays him about half of what other TE's in the same talent level are getting. But unfortunately the gnts hold all the cards when it comes to a player under contract. So, maybe he feels the only way to get an increase is to play the wounded soldier, hold out for "other reasons" and hope the gnts will try to mend his broken feelings with cash....just an idea.

June 8, 2008  10:42 AM ET

Possibly true, DK.

But there was a lot of stuff leaked out about him, and you don't know for sure what the source was.

And now apparently he was pissed that he wasn't allowed on the sidelines during the SB, while all this time people were trashing him because he wasn't.

I'm not sure all the fault lies with him.

June 8, 2008  10:54 AM ET

He catches grief when he doesn't talk, he catches grief when he does talk.
Sound like anyone else we know?

June 8, 2008  11:16 AM ET

I thought his actions at the superbowl said it all. Is he with his team in street clothes? no. He is wearing a plaid cap sitting in the stands with his friends. Good tight end, maybe great, lousy teammate, total tool. When he went down, I thought the Giants were done done done. I was wrong wrong wrong. With a bit more money and a change of scenery he might get right....I just kinda doubt it.

June 8, 2008  11:21 AM ET

Shockey sucks. Loud mouth 3rd rate tight end. If I was a Giants fan, I would want him traded in a second.

Well you may want to read the NY Post today. Apparently Shockey went to the SB with the intention of sitting on the sidelines and only right before the game was he told he couldn't be there. He's pissed about that and rightly so.

June 8, 2008  11:31 AM ET

Now, Buford, you know it doesn't matter what the truth is to some people, only what they read in the media can be the actual truth. If it wasn't the truth it wouldn't get reported that way, right? (Please add heavy sarcasm to this post).

June 8, 2008  11:35 AM ET

buford - thanks. just read it . if it is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, it is a danged weird way to treat your players. some one needs to lose his job. yesterday.

June 8, 2008  11:38 AM ET

Which finger?

June 8, 2008  11:46 AM ET

Nothing like getting a ring hurt and not playing and now making demands...??!!! crazy.. get healthy and produce..

June 8, 2008  12:12 PM ET

Who needs him? Cranky ol' diva. Ragging on Eli, skipping workouts, acting like a Delta House frat boy on the field. If they didn't need you for the Super Bowl, they don't need you now.

June 8, 2008  12:15 PM ET

Team,.............. that word is a foreign language for many of today's coddled "superstars", who become legends in their own minds.

they won, without him, and without the BS he brings as baggage. The attitude will not get him where he wants to be.
