Debunking Cowboys-Browns rumor
The Cowboys have used a first-round pick on cornerback Mike Jenkins and traded for former Tennessee first-round pick Adam "Pacman" Jones. The Cowboys also have another first-round cornerback, Terence Newman, starting at the spot opposite Anthony Henry. This is what you call an abundance of riches at cornerback. A surplus is the No. 1 ingredient for a trade. So we have a team with a surplus at cornerback and a team that loves to deal with the Browns. What's the holdup? First, the Cowboys are not yet comfortable counting on Jones. Although they are protecting him from getting into more trouble with a squadron of security people working round-the-clock, they don't want to risk totally depending on him. And Jenkins, after all, will be a rookie, so they don't want to rush him into the starting lineup. They also have plans on moving Henry to safety in certain packages as a precursor to an eventual permanent position switch.

Man, that ain't Jerry Jones face. He got tighter skin than that photo depicts. They better not count on Jones, because the first party they have he gonna blow his gasket and do something really dumb. It is in how his mother raised him with no sense of right or wrong.

The same guy who called Jones 'Skeletor' asked: are the teams they visit going to play "When the circus comes to town" before the Cowboys games? I am not in the age group for either of them but I think 'Skeletor' was on 'He Man'.

One of these guys is going to replace Williams at the safety spot. It is just a matter of when. That is the guy they would love to get rid of. Problem is, everyone else in the league knows he is a one dimensional safety. Covering receivers is not what he does best..

This is a non-story. After finally getting shored-up at cornerback, we're going to trade them away?
I think we know why we lost in the playoffs last year, besides a dropped pass and a stopped route - Eli Manning's 70-something yard all-air touchdown drive with 40 seconds left before the half.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone but me think its just wrong to hire a team of around the clock security guards to babysit a player so he doesnt get in trouble? Does this imply that the Cowboys arent comfortable with Pacman saying he's leant his lesson?

There is nothing wrong with hiring babysitters. Most municipalities have rules that can result in the government taking infants, juveniles and mental defectives into a 'guardianship' type custody if they are not adequately supervised. What might be a real problem is that they are not watching the whole Cowboy roster and most of their fans. You think the polygamy bust was big?

I just find it odd that he has a team of around the clock babysitters... do the cowboys think Jones will sneak out his bedroom window, shimmy down the tree and head off to a strip joint ?
Seriously.. the guy is like 24 yrs old isnt he?
WHat kind of message does this send Goodell ? What kind of message is this sending Jones?

KP, I think that was over zealous journalism regarding the "squadron of security"!. My understanding is that Pacman is staying and training with Deon Sanders who reported that he is focused totally on football and doing some great things on the field and off. He also reported that he has never seen anyone who has been away from football for that period of time come back in such great conditiioning.
