Seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan is retiring after a 15-year career, capped by a Super Bowl title with the New York Giants in February. The 36-year-old Strahan, the NFL's active leader in sacks, informed the Giants on Monday. "I'm just finding out about it; let me get organized," coach Tom Coughlin said after a team offseason workout. Strahan's retirement first was reported by Foxsports.com "It was important that my teammates knew which way I was going before they got on the field to start the work to defend our title," Strahan told the Web site. "It's time. I'm done."

As a Dallas Cowboys fan I say this, "Good Riddance!" The superb skills and energy you brought to the field wreaked havoc on our offensive line for too long. Good luck in your retirement...you will [not] be missed. ; )

I appreciate everything Strahan has done for Big Blue, but it's time to move on. I respect him as a player, but the way he's jerked the organization around these past two offseasons has been unacceptable. An announcement of this type should've been made to the Organization first, AND PRIVATELY. In his old age, he's become a very selfish person, so glad to have known ya, but now it's time for you to get the hell out.

Now, it's Tuck time!! Finally, he will get the chance to become the monster we all know he can be, full-time!!

Go Big Blue!

C-ya strahan. look forward to seeing you on foxsports with the rest of the goofballs that make up "the best damn sports show".

wow, the GMEN lose a HOF like strahan a reload with a superbowl stud named Tuck. that's what i'm talkin bout. GO GMEN!!

Favre and Strahan going into Canton together. I wonder if Brett is going to lay down so Michael can get to the podium as he did for Big Mikes sack record...........

June 9, 2008  01:50 PM ET

dont let the door hit ya on the way out..

actually, I like Strahan.. hes going out on top...
but the G-Mens power ranking number just slid way down the ladder

June 9, 2008  01:50 PM ET

Strahan is going to the Hall ?

hmm..
interesting

June 9, 2008  01:52 PM ET

The Gmen/NFL fans will miss his personality. I think he will find his way to TV quickly.

Go Giants

It should take the team about 2 to 3 years to adjust. Enjoy retirement, go out at good time.

At least he didn't wait until training camp, like Brett Farve. Oh yeah, isn't he the same Farve that gave Strahan the sack title. Maybe they'll get together for lunch and Strahan can pay up.
