Westbrook hinting at raise?
Brian Westbrook accepted the free ride on Jeffrey Lurie's chartered plane to Boston on Sunday for Game 2 of the NBA Finals, so he must be on pretty good terms with the Eagles' owner these days. Nevertheless, the superstar running back was not shy yesterday when asked if he deserves a raise in the form of a contract extension. "I think if you play at a high level, you should be rewarded for that," Westbrook said. "You see guys that are the best players in the league, traditionally they're rewarded for their play. I feel . . . and I'm sure a lot of other players feel like they should be compensated for the things that they do." The subject, however, did not come up as Westbrook sat with Lurie and teammates Brian Dawkins and Donovan McNabb during the Boston Celtics' victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. "No, we were just there enjoying the game - enjoying the Celtics' victory," Westbrook said.

He's the only legitimate offensive weapon they have and deserves a raise.

Brian is approaching the wall that smacks all middle aged nfl rb and makes them take a pay cut or get a new job. Sometime in the next 3 years he's going to be on the FA market hoping to take any deal he can find or considering retirement. 30-31 is what 3 years away?

The Eagles, in no way suck. I mean...you can only be in the post season so many times before your bound to have a bad season.
Plenty of teams around the league should only be so lucky as to be as good as the Eagles.
But Westbrook is definitely a magical player and worthy of a little boost in pay.

Kind of sad when a team is counting on a rookie to be the playmaker they need. They may want to see if he can play at this level first. Most WR do not do well the first three years, and putting it on your special teams to make the big plays is a bit of a stretch to count on week in and week out.
Westbrook is the offense...without him the Eagles are Miami North on offense..

You can't go as far as to say all that if you know anything about the Eagles but they need to pay this guy. He's dynamic! When a defense has to plan around a guy you know he has to be really good and deserving.

Seriously, look how sucky the Eagles are with Westbrook. He is a stud! So if they don't give him a contract extension that he deserves, he will eventually leave the team and then look out, SUCK CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phillydave..Maybe I did not say it well. My point is, I think Westbrook is THE most important offensive player the Eagles have....They won two years ago without McNabb, they cannot win without Westbrook.....You have to pay him...Keep him happy, he earned it. He means more to the Eagles than Samuel, and look what they gave him. If I am Westbrook, I start there. If I am athe Eagles, I listen close..
