Brunnette's Avs days numbered
A sign that Andrew Brunette's days with the Avalanche might be over could be read into the fact there have been no talks between him and the team since the season ended. Brunette can be an unrestricted free agent July 1, but an NHL source said the Avs have yet to contact the veteran forward regarding a new contract. Brunette, 34, was the team's second-leading scorer last season, with 59 points (19 goals) in 82 games. He also was the second-leading scorer in the playoffs, with five goals and eight points in 10 games. His regular-season scoring output was a 24-point regression, however, from the 2006-07 season. His age and contract requirements might have convinced the Avs to look to younger players, specifically winger David Jones, who played on the top two lines much of the final third of the season and playoffs.

Brunnette is not going to be out of a job for long. He's an experienced guy who plays hard and can score. He's a good asset to have around on a team full of younger players. He'll also fit in nicely on a team that needs that little extra to put them over the top.

Bruno's a heck of a player. Not a HOF'er by any means, but a solid 2nd line winger and a great leader. I would like to see him back in an Avs sweater, but I don't think it's gonna happen. David Jones looks like a very good young player. I think that Bruno would fit in nicely on a team that has a lot of solid youngsters like a Chicago, Phoenix, or LA. Depending on the money, I could see him winding up in Pittsburgh too.

no way he goes to the Pens..but he may show up in Chicago or Phoenix. Like you say he's a good 2nd line player with maturity ...can be a good influence on younger players

He's seems like a player that Dale Tallon would try to plug into the Hawks lineup.

LIDSTROM IS BETTER THAN BOURQUE
As usual somehow someone goes off topic!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to see him back in our lineup, he was a good centerman when we were short on star players due to Injury! However, liek WTNELSOn said, JOnsey is up and coming, and he didnt once dissapointe me when he was in the lineup, as for Hlinka!!!!
It sucks lettin him go for nothing though!!!!

The Lidstrom comment is from losing a bet...he has to mention that in his post due to that loss...in case you didn't notice he's a Bruin fan why would he have that in his post otherwise???

It'll be good for him to go somewhere else, maybe get a shot at winning next year. The Av's don't have a real shot at winning in the near future. I'd take him on Boston.

You might watch that evolv. I don't think that the Avs are gonna win the Cup next year or anything, but you may be surprised at how well they do, especially if Stastny can avoid rupturing his spleen or something. I think a lot of people are underestimating the Avs chances next season. For crying out loud, free agency doesn't even start for another 3 weeks. Who knows what any team is gonna look like. The Avs have a pretty good corps of young players and an above average back end. Let's hold out preseason judgments until after July.
