Royals dismiss Meche-to-Cubs talk
Royals right-hander Gil Meche just laughs at those rumors circulating regarding a possible trade sending him to the Cubs. "How's that going to happen?" he asked. Meche has a no-trade clause in his contract and said he hasn't been asked to waive it. Furthermore, he has no interest in doing so. General manager Dayton Moore declined to comment on the rumor, but club officials privately dismissed it. One said, "If we're going to make a run at this thing in 2010, how are we going to do it without Gil Meche?"

The Cubs are better off without him. They're set. Now the Braves--that's another matter. The need a starter now that Smoltz has, basically, shut it down. I hope Bobby Cox gets another starter b4 the team sinks any further in the NL East.

how are we going to do it without gil meche? easy, the same way every team who has made a run at it over the last decade has...without gil meche. you may pay him like a #1, but he ain't no #1.
and if I were meche, I'd waive that no trade just to get the hell out of KC and that atrocious uniform.

The Cubs clearly need another starter, but Meche is a #3, with the stuff to back it up and a way too large contract. Make a run at Bedard (if healthy) or C.C. (if available.

Yea he'll go to Japan since he's a garbage pitcher and he can finally look like a superstar somewhere. The Japanese leagues are like our AA leagues. Sure some make the jump, but most dont.
