How Buffs coach gets around rule

Dan Hawkins recently pulled a fast one on the NCAA. The first-year edict from college football's governing body prohibits head coaches from traveling to high schools to meet with coaches -- and sometimes, miraculously enough, accidentally bumping into star prospects during the month-long spring evaluation period. Though that brought even more pucker to some of the nation's most famous sourpusses, the Colorado coach found a way to make lemonade. Thus was born the first "CU Hawk Talk Tour," with the coach traveling throughout the region, pressing some flesh, giving a little Hawk Love and getting the word out that indeed there's a major-college football program in the state. This spring there were seven stops. The hope is the tour will grow to the point where it will reach every corner of the state.

this is hands down the most poorly written piece I have seen on this website. whomever wrote this, obviously it is your first time writing on this site, just notice how the other articles are written.

This is no brilliant new move.
What's the point of this artical? Is it just to give CU some coverage since their program doesn't show up in T and R too often?

Geez, that's as lame as the ol' I sent him a text page to say hello and the recruit decided to call me of his own free will. Yeah, it's just a rule ... who needs to follow the spirit of the law so long as the letter of the law is covered. This coach had a great example of law breaking from Slick Rick.

Hey husker remember last year? You must be very proud of losing to the buffs. 65-51. If CU isn't a major program and you lost to CU, last year, what does that make your program?

June 10, 2008  10:51 PM ET

Hawkins refers to himself as "The Hawk."

Nothing good can come from this.

Yes, Husker Pride, there IS a major college program in Colorado. It's at the Air Academy. Plus, I'm sure you didn't need Hoodie to remind you that CU hung 65 on your girls last season, but I'm glad he/she did...
