Considering the financial investment that the Vikings made to upgrade their roster this offseason, it should come as no surprise that owner Zygi Wilf and Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen have grand expectations. Wilf, attending the team's weekend minicamp, talked about the "tremendous amount of talent" the Vikings possess and that "every position that we felt we needed to get better at, we've brought the players in." Allen, the biggest name among the newcomers, was even more direct. "We expect to go to the Super Bowl," he said.

I guess Booty counts as a player.

June 10, 2008  08:10 AM ET

vikings SHOULD field a great team this year...but you never know...

June 10, 2008  08:19 AM ET

I'll give you this Jared, your Vikings do kick **** in my Madden '08 system. But the differnce being that in Madden '08 you guys have good QB play. Not so much in real life. You should stick with production over prediction. It carries more weight. Just ask Kitna......

Minnesota's Defense should be one of the league's tops...but with T Jack leading the offense it just doesn't matter. And Childress is good for about 3 losses right off the bat because he's an idiot. I just don't see it in the cards....GO PACK GO

June 10, 2008  08:27 AM ET

Plus you really don't think AP can make it through a season healthy do you?

June 10, 2008  08:36 AM ET

packers will suck royally this year...8-8 would be a gift...

June 10, 2008  08:38 AM ET

In June, every team expects to be in the Super Bowl. The expectations are drastically different in November and December.

June 10, 2008  08:38 AM ET

defense tends to get you to the bowl. vikes defense looks improved on paper this season, not sure its ready for the big game though.

June 10, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Gotta have confidence in your team. It wont happen. But its good to think big..

June 10, 2008  08:48 AM ET

Funniest thing I have heard in Minnesota in a long time. This team is going nowhere unless they get a real QB behind center, Jackson is not the answer..

June 10, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Well, if the Bears can get there with Grossman, why not the Vikings?

June 10, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Everyone should think that there team is good enough to go to the super bowl. You shouldn't play unless you think you can win.

June 10, 2008  09:02 AM ET

They would not be the first team to get to a Superbowl with a sub par QB. The Ravens, TB and the Bears proved that.

June 10, 2008  09:25 AM ET

It don't cost nothing to dream, does it? As long as you don't forget it's just a dream. If you do forget, don't worry! You'll wake up soon enough!

June 10, 2008  09:42 AM ET

No chance Vikes, but what can he say since they over paid him...just
like the Herschel Walker mess years ago where they put all the dough
in one guy, and how did that work out? Suffered for years.,.....

June 10, 2008  09:49 AM ET

You tell em Jared !
Confidence is key..

just ask the Giants

June 10, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Packers, I still get a kick out of that name!

June 10, 2008  09:53 AM ET

Well, if the Bears can get there with Grossman, why not the Vikings?

Really, the Patriots made it three times with Brady.

Every player on every team (and every coach) would say the exact same thing right now. Thats whats great about the NFL, everyone has a shot.

At least he has confidence. I would be pretty upset if we paid him a load of money and he responded with "we're shooting for 9-7." I'm excited to watch them this year. QB will be interesting but they seem to have improved at least a tiny bit in other positions.
