Bill Parcells said he pulls for Charlie Weis and for two of his former players who are on Weis' Notre Dame staff, Corwin Brown and Bernie Parmalee. "I have always thought Notre Dame was one of the more difficult jobs in the United States," Parcells said. "I really hope they do well," he said. "They know what to do, they just have to get enough players in place to do it."

great, as a miami and nd fan i dont need to hear this crap. weis needs get his **** in gear and so does parcells...considering hes not the coach and his tough love approach wont work in south beach with all the distractions.

ps. draft a qb, marino retired when i was in grade school.

I am sure Fish does since he knows Weis' success in the pros was due to cheating.

June 11, 2008  06:29 AM ET

oops make thta Tuna who works for the Fish...

June 11, 2008  06:59 AM ET

I can't wait until the Buffalo Bills squish the fish this year!

June 11, 2008  07:17 AM ET

Is anyone surprised about this? Two egotistical, arrogant, bloated ****. Of course they gravitate toward one another. Birds of a feather flock together...

June 11, 2008  08:00 AM ET

NOTRE DAME IS TRASH! Besides, we know the only good thing about Bill Parcells is that he's a maniac that likes to micromanage everything about his team and refuses to praise players for strong play.

Forget Notre Dame - they were done the minute they fired Ty Willingham.

June 11, 2008  08:43 AM ET

Charlie? Charlie who? Oh yeah, that's the guy that talks a lot and polishes his bowl rings that may be tainted!

June 11, 2008  09:42 AM ET

why is this a story?

June 11, 2008  10:24 AM ET

Overrated, obese, egotistical people tend to run in the same....(dare I?) HERDS.

And by HERDS, I am really stating that Parcells and SlightlyLessFatTuna are ****

C-Smith,
Just so you know Willingham is hands down the worst coach in America he can't win with someone elses players and he can't win with his own. He is not only overrated for what he did more than six years ago, but he wasn't even that good when he was coaching Stanford. You think ND was finished when they fired Ty I think Washington was finished when they hired him.

June 11, 2008  10:32 AM ET

JGB has the best comment. This is not a story. Just a slow day at the Nation.

It's good to see C-Smith is still aTy LOVER. By the way, how's he doing over at Washington? Here I'll tell you he's 11-25 in three seasons at Washington (2005-07) Kevin White described Willingham???s hiring as ???Divine intervention??? when the Irish started 8-0 in his first season (2002), but Willingham was jettisoned on Nov. 30, 2004 after going 13-15 in his next 28 games, losing eight of them by at least 21 points, and struggling on the recruiting trail. I'd fire his **** too!

June 11, 2008  10:42 AM ET

You've got to admire Ty. He has managed to paint himself a such a victm of racism and yet he is still getting paid by Notre Dame (AND Washington) while proving that he can (could) not win at ether place. When WU eventually gets the nerve up (they don't want the same backlash ND got) to let hm go, he may be able to add a third salary (if another program decides to gve him a shot.). I wonder if any of you that are such staunch defenders of him would take him as coach of your program...? I didn't think so.

June 11, 2008  10:45 AM ET

Admire him..... NO! Laugh at him yes!! And at Washington too!

Funny, my first thought was "narwhals." But as a comedian in all seriousness, "They know what to do, they just have to get enough players in place to do it" is the pearl of wisdom that Genuis Parcells offers? Here I always thought it took a lot more than that. ND is loaded, has been loaded, but that hasn't mattered. It's coaching, baby, coaching. This season will tell whether Charlie's got it or he ain't.

Why does it always have to come back to Willingham? I'm sick of this. For better or worse, Ty's gone and everybody's move on. Can't we just move along and dump the topic of Willingham. It's over with.

George, C- Smith brought Ty up. Think of it this way, as much as you guys love to pick on Charlie Weis for being overweight, that's how ND fans feel about Ty.

June 11, 2008  11:01 AM ET

Oh yeah, Ty SUCKS!!

June 11, 2008  11:01 AM ET

George W. Watson...I agree with your assessment of this being Charlie's make or break year. Regarding Ty, I was only respondng to C-Smith's comment above. It is usually the ND haters that like to continue to bring up his "mistreatment" at ND.

I like to laugh, make a joke, and read and see funny things on FN: sports is entertainment after all. (Even some of the illustrations that go along with the avatars on FN are pretty funny.) And Charlie is obese in this MD's opinion. In fact, he, Parcells and Mangino out to go on stage and call themselves "The Three Jabbas." That would be quality entertainment.

But what Charlie has to do this year is no joke. I;m no ND fan, but a strong Irish football team is good for NCAA football. Here's hoping that it turns out. (what people who don;t like ND cant stand are the egotistical fans - at least that's what they say. I'm indifferent so it doesn't grate on me.)

The Willingham thing is dead. Let's all just let it go and wish him well at UDub.
