Eagles shut down sore McNabb

The shoulder discomfort that Donovan McNabb has been experiencing now has a name. It's tendinitis. And even though coach Andy Reid said last month that it wasn't a problem, it will keep the Eagles' starting quarterback from practicing for the remainder of their camp, which concludes tomorrow. McNabb had discomfort in his shoulder at the end of the post-draft camp last month, when the Eagles shut him down during the final workout, but Reid denied there was any problem.

the big question is will he make it through a season in decient condition? he does them no good on the side line. don't think they drafted a QB in the second round for him to keep sitting #2 on the depth chart. he is looking over his shoulder, bet his momma comes to his defense.

McNabb really had his chance....and let the clock tick away......

He's carrying too much muscle,

And they should shut him down - no reason risking injury before the first game of the season is played.

Donovan, despite his talent however, is starting to become fragile. He's still their best option by FAR at QB, but it might be time to hopefully be finding a replacement. Too bad they got rid of Garcia.

He has gotten big.

McRehab, hurt?!.......This ain't news.....HA!

June 11, 2008  09:21 AM ET

Wow. He is eating well. I would love to know his real weight right now. Not what the team lists him at..

June 11, 2008  09:29 AM ET

I know this is just more ammo for the McNabb haters out there but this is not a problem at all. He had this issue at the same time of the year in 2004 and I think he did pretty well that season. He has put on alot of muscle though to run over defenders I guess.

June 11, 2008  09:52 AM ET

This is more about getting to see Kevin Kolb than resting McNabb. And yes, he does look chunky. Chunky Soup chunky.....Must get a free supply....

As much as I like McNabb its over for him. Kolb will be taking the team over after this year.

Anything is possible but I think that is unlikely. McNabb will be our QB for at least another 3 years.

ah, i thought you'd chime in on your boy donovan. no worries is right this is pretty typical, isn't it??
i think its safe to say backup within a year or two?

June 11, 2008  10:20 AM ET

Really, McNabb is looking pretty massive. I think he need to skip some sessions in the weight room.

HA! Doubt it...

what a bum. get rid of him.

June 11, 2008  12:17 PM ET

Smart move. As a veteran it isn't like he needs the extra practice. Shut him down and let his shoulder discomfort go away. If it isn't gone by the beginning of the season then let him play through the pain or go with Kolbwho was surprising last year.
