Panthers open to Jokinen trade

Several teams have heard that the Panthers are willing to trade veteran center Olli Jokinen -- perhaps for a first-round pick in the upcoming draft. The Panthers aren't necessarily shopping the 29-year-old center, but a good number of teams have heard Florida is willing to trade Jokinen. At least a dozen have inquired about making a deal -- one Jacques Martin might be receptive to making.

This guy deserves to play on a winning team. His talent is being wasted in Florida. Trade him aready!! However, will teams feel that he is worth a first round draft pick or more?

I can see someone with a low position in the trade giving up a first rounder. I've heard that after the first six picks, the talent really drops off this year.

He would look great in broadway blue. Good hockey player who's been stuck in hockey hell for too long. No one should have to stay on that team for too long.

We all know Martin & Olli are not exactly fawned over each other in the past.
He'll trade him for the first decent offer he gets that he can sell to his Boss to get the move made.
Seems there may be a lot of potential activity getting ready to spill over this off season. Players, coaches, GMs....

June 11, 2008  09:03 AM ET

I agree Baun-ded.

He is a solid player and can help many teams but there will be many changes during the offseason.

June 11, 2008  09:37 AM ET

Every GM whose team is not going anywhere is going to say the same thing. We've heard it before: "Nobody is untouchable, blah, blah, blah."

If a GM is not willing to listen to offers, especially with an asset like Olli Jokinen, shouldn't be a GM and, if he is, he won't be for long.

June 11, 2008  09:39 AM ET

he is going to Detroit, so is Sundin....

June 11, 2008  10:27 AM ET

If Jokinen joins the Wings... wow. That's all I can say.

But that's not going to happen, because Ken Holland is smarter than I am.

June 11, 2008  10:57 AM ET

I do think he will get millions..

June 11, 2008  11:33 AM ET

Off topic, why does Florida still have 2 teams?

June 11, 2008  11:34 AM ET

Money and location

June 11, 2008  11:51 AM ET

Why does Florida have two teams? Because they figure half the population of the state of Florida are Snowbirds spending half the year down there. The only problem with that logic is, if you are escaping the cold of the Canadian winter, why the hell would you want to be reminded of it by going to a hockey game?

drjo,

How bout them Georgia Ice Dogs!

June 11, 2008  12:28 PM ET

Detroit is looking for a vet to back up Osgood....They dont think Howard it ready to fill in quite yet, which I don't think makes a lot of sense....I think, we bring Legacy back as a back up, seems like when the goalies come back from st louis, they are alot better adapted to face more shots, or less, what ever way they come...Playing for a team like detroit, and then going, and coming back, seems to work for our goalies....Ozzie for the veznia next year............

June 11, 2008  12:51 PM ET

Haha....just trying to throw out some nonsense, as are most of the bloggers on this sight.....Funny how off the point we can get, since us hockey fans don't know a thing about anything eh!!! Suppose tiger was right with his statement last week...as were pens fans thinking the wings were going to get swept!!! The goalie thing is true, the sundin rumor is true, the olie thing will never happen, wings don't have and wont pay that kind of money.......we are just find, just need another tender to back up ozzie......and if stuart goes, we will just bring up errikson, he's for sure ready.........
