07:09 AM ET 06.11 | Vinny Lecavalier said he believes John Tortorella is a good coach and a good person. He appreciated the on-ice structure Tortorella brought in seven seasons as Lightning coach and said, "Definitely he will have success. I don't think he'll have a tough time finding another job." Still, the superstar center said, there were times last season that Tortorella's finger-to-chest style was difficult for some younger players to handle.

True, kids are wimps today. It starts at the youth league level for any sport now. T-Ball games have to all end in ties and so on. Its weak and we're developing a bunch of crybabies like Cindy Crosby. That being said, who wants Fonzy as their coach anyway, the dude is a total dbag.

I bet after sitting through a season of Barry Melrose, that 'finger-to-chest' style would be welcomed.

June 11, 2008  09:15 AM ET

That "finger to chest" approach should be reserved for Ice Girls, Bentley.
Vinny & St. Louis are not kids & Tort's style runs it's course after 3 yrs.
DaveP- So I guess we know how your next ball game is going to turn out then...

Somehow someone manages to bring Crosby into the picture calling him a crybaby....gotta hate those players like Crosby that have more talent than everyone else and still go out like they give a **** about the rest of the team and work their tail of night in and night out....but of course he's a crybaby right? I suppose we'd rather watch guys that mail it in when it gets a bit tougher in the playoffs...right?

June 11, 2008  09:55 AM ET

Newf...are you referring to MAILKIN for example?

June 11, 2008  09:55 AM ET

Even Don Cherry isn't on his **** anymore because he knows how much **** he has to deal with having goons slashing him and mugging him night in and night out and he used to be one of his biggest critics. Sorry to everyone for the ramble....it's not a Crosby thread but figured I'd throw in my $0.02.

June 11, 2008  09:57 AM ET

yes, that's exactly who I'd be referring to. The guy that was apparently now better than the "Crybaby" but then vanished.....

Either way I like Torts, and think the league needs more personalities like him, I thought his crazy rants were great.

June 11, 2008  10:02 AM ET

There's a reason why John Tortorella isn't TB coach anymore. For whatever reason, he lost the respect of his players. They stopped listening to him. HE GONE!

June 11, 2008  11:16 AM ET

The team sucked. No defense aside from Boyle and only one line to work with (pre-Dallas trade). No other line was capable of playing two-way hockey.

The kids need to quit being babies, but the finger pointing doesn't work when your team sucks.

Its the Philly & NY crowd that just can't seem to wade through any hockey subject without invoking some kind of anti-Crosby remark.....yet they would take him on their team in a heartbeat.

Keep in mind that davep had to watch his beloved Flyers get b**ch slapped by the Pens in the playoffs. The lashing out is part of his therapy.

June 11, 2008  12:33 PM ET

Crysob is a beotch.

June 11, 2008  12:39 PM ET

Did Crosby shave Malkins **** off his face yet?

June 11, 2008  01:14 PM ET

Much truth stated above.

Yet if I'm San Jose I'm thinking that several of their players lounging out on the West Coast could use some harsh words.

The Rangers are ***

June 11, 2008  03:21 PM ET

newff...crosby doesn't have more talent than anyone. he's overrated and he does cry, dive, and whine. those are just the facts. but back on topic, there are times when its good to have a tough coach, but he's gotta be able to relax some too. obvioulsy I wasn't with tortorella as much as Vinny, so I can't tell if it's good or bad.

The guy tied for the playoff lead in points. He did his part. Quite frankly, the Wings were a better TEAM. Other than the OT game...Fluery let in some soft goals.

There is only one winner at the end of the year. As a 20 year captain...Crosby got them into the finals. Not bad.
