Sharks to hire Wings assistant

One of Mike Babcock's first orders of business, now that he has his extension out of the way, will be to find at least one new assistant coach. Todd McLellan will be announced as the Sharks' new head coach today. McLellan was assistant to Babcock the past three years. McLellan flew to San Jose this weekend, and two days worth of interviews with general manager Doug Wilson went so well McLellan cancelled a meeting he had scheduled for later this week for the job in Atlanta.

I actually like this move. I really don't like the Coach Recycling Program that seems to be implemented in most pro leagues.

Yes there are good coaches who run their course somewhere and need to move on.

But there are also bums who get re-hired for no good reason other than they've been there done that.

New blood is always a good thing. And there is no better place to find new blood than deep within a winning organization.

That's a no brainer! Why settle for hamburger when you can have stake?

"Boy! That's a tough one! Atlanta or San Jose? San Jose or Atlanta?" Not!

While I can see where's he's coming from advancing from asst to head coach. I don't quite understand the logic of leaving a proven franchise to a perennial playoff disaster.
