Cartersville (Ga.) quarterback Donovan Tate will spend the majority of the summer concentrating on baseball. While the baseball diamond continues to tug at the son of former Georgia running back Lars Tate, colleges are pitching the opportunity for him to play two sports. "Most of the schools have offered him both sports from Southern Cal to Michigan to all of them," Barden said. "He'll sign in February with somebody and then go through the baseball draft in June." Though he has yet to narrow his college choices, Georgia would seem to be a good fit for Tate, who is expected to announce his finalists by later summer.

then **** is a picture of Carroll doing up there if he's mostly interested in Georgia, which by all accounts seems to be the case?

Besides, playing football and baseball in college is pretty difficult.

Pete Carroll? Is this the only Pete Caroll picture that Getty Images owns the rights to?

I think UGA would be a good fit b/c they are giong to Omaha this Friday.

It gives him the best chance to start at QB eventually. Not the best baseball program to go to but he could make them better.

Yeah. They aren't a consistent power house at baseball like Miami and some of those schools that show up every year in the CWS. Still they were good this year so you never know.

As I said they are not there every year like Miami and CS Fullerton. Good team this year but it would be less of surprise to see them miss it next year than either of these two teams.

Jackie Robinson did it, as did Neon Deion, Charlie Ward, Bo Jackson, etc... I love the fact that some universties are going to allow it to happen. The multi-sport athlete is a dying breed and there's too much specialization, especially in high school.

does Pete Carroll coach baseball too?

June 13, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Wait a minute... Georgia has been to 4 of the last 7 CWS... That's not bad... And they have won a title (in 1990)... 2 players drafted in the first round of the MLB this year (#8 and #20)... Let's not knock the team too much now!

Georgia has a solid baseball team and is in the WS now... they have a great facility and program. With our roster of RB's.. baseball is the better choice for him now. I would not be shocked if he swings over to football after a year... take the Pete C. pic off... what the heck..

June 13, 2008  04:43 PM ET

We also have 3 strong QB's and are set in the position for several years..

No they have another one in which one of Pete's backup QB's looks as if he is contemplaiting a way to kill him.

I can't wait to see the Pete Carroll pic from the press conference after the NCAA gives them the death penalty for paying players.
