Calderon draws interest from Clippers

The Clippers -- like many teams -- have pinpointed Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon as an attractive target this off-season. Calderon is a restricted free agent but is also sharing point guard duties in Toronto with T.J. Ford. The Raptors can match any offer made to Calderon and have stated publicly that they intend to do so.

Calderon is going nowhere. The Raptors would be interested in moving Ford to the Clippers, but outside of that, the Clippers or anyone else won't get anywhere close to signing Jose.

He will stay put... they may deal but not with him.

June 12, 2008  03:34 PM ET

no one will match clippers offer those guys are nuts just take livingston in return as your backup if he is healthy

brand is gone period

76ers will be the big playersa this year trust me

get rid of Ford... he's been inconsistend and his health is a liability plus he's a ball hog.... trade Ford for a someone that can play a solid 3 or 5 for the Raps. keep calderon and make him the starting 1.. he's a leader and very consistent.

you gotta keep calderon and let him start.
Can we have a trade back for Charlie V?

June 12, 2008  06:05 PM ET

This guy is ideal for the knicks, if they can get rid of the deadwood Marbury, Rose, Curry and Randolph would help give this team something they need. getting rid of these character's can open the for someone who really has heart when he play's like Artest who does play defense. Then they can draft the Euro player everone is talking about !!! They will look real close to the SunS, Barbosa or Diaw will find their way to the Knicks and finally the Knicks will be playoff bound...

June 12, 2008  06:24 PM ET

So his choices thus far are the Clippers and the Raptors ... yuk!!!

June 12, 2008  06:32 PM ET

calderon is staying in toronto. colangelo will match any offer just as he said. time to get rid of ford. hes a injury-prone shot happy expensive point that needs to be moved. toronto has that other young point guard from europe who will come over soon. go raps

June 12, 2008  07:17 PM ET

do the clips need another guard?

June 12, 2008  07:43 PM ET

i watched between 65-75 games in their entirety this season, and have followed this team religiously over the last few years... and therefore feel confident in PROMISING that jose is not going anywhere. the best player on the team not named chris bosh and amazingly efficient... no way we let this guy walk. he'll make a few all-star teams before his career is over.

sorry reject clippers fans...good try tho...he should draw interest from half the league.

June 12, 2008  10:54 PM ET

Calderon is going nowhere.

June 12, 2008  11:18 PM ET

Ford didn't play as bad as a lot of people seem to think. There were too many nights he was finding open guys, only to have Ilmago and others miss their shots. I wish the Raps could keep both, they were better than any other PG duo in the East. Too bad the Raps can't afford to keep both, someone HAS to go. They need another big man, the Bargnani days are numbered.

June 12, 2008  11:18 PM ET

The Raptors would have to be crazy to give up Calderon, and Calderon would be crazy to want to go to the Clippers.

June 13, 2008  01:12 AM ET

trade il mago.. he's a bust not as bad as darko but i'd say he's expendable.. but who'd take him? he's seems very lazy on the court

June 13, 2008  07:54 AM ET

With no draft picks this year, and a dismal showing in the playoffs, the Raptors will be busy in the offseason.
Calderon will not be booking a moving company to move his stuff. He'll be staying put.
TJ Ford on the other hand, would be well advised to look for the best deal when it comes to moving-truck rentals... The same with Joey Graham and well, most of the Raptors bench!

June 13, 2008  08:15 AM ET

I like Calderon and most teams probably would like to have him but they aren't going to waste their time because the majority of teams can only offer the MLE and everybody knows Toronto will match that. So with that being said I don't think he is going to get a lot of interest from the league but it won't be because he isn't talented.

June 13, 2008  10:16 AM ET

to repeat most of the comments above, this is a non-story really. calderon is staying in toronto, you can bet on that.

Pheasant Plucker,

The Raptors have the 17th pick this year in the first round.
