There is no way he is worth 10 million/season. I would work up a sign and trade deal with a big spending team like Philly or the Rangers, for two or three top prospects. I just don't see the logic in paying anyone (outside of Crosby or Malkin and very few others, maybe Brodeur) that kind of cheese. Hockey is the ultimate team game, unlike the NBA where individuals can carry a team. Having one guy = 20% of the payroll is insane, somewhere the depth has be be damaged significantly, and does that make you a better team?

Exactly. And man did they use it well! Players had to be taking paycuts.

i'd like to see him play on a more offensive minded team.i think he would like to aswell.the wild will prob pay him more than he's worth because if he goes it would be bad p.r. for them.still as ted di'biase used to say "everyman has their price!"and he'l stay i think.

He does have a tendency to get hurt a bit. I think he should try playing a whole season, maybe have an Ovechkin year before he starts asking for $10 million

I don't get why everyone is hating on Minnesota. I'm not from Minnesota, but isn't it the biggest state for hockey? anyway, Gaborik is one of their best players....that's why they should resign him
